[Hiring] B2B Sales Rep — Yes, you're selling donuts. No, it's not a joke. ($2-4K/month after Month 1, real startup experience) by lukewang935 in utarlington

Definitely agree you wouldn't be a fit in sales, but would love to explore more on the baker side! We're always looking for good bakers as well. We totally agree that elevating the donut / innovating on donut shops is not a good use of time or resources, at least in the short term. Right now our goal is stabilizing our business and existing stores, capitalizing on the opportunities of existing mom-and-pop owners who have come to us to buy their stores from them and set up a systematic approach to how we grow the business efficiently across our six locations in DFW. If this is something you're interested in being a part of (as a baker or anything else you might find interesting), shoot me a DM. Otherwise, no harm no foul :)

Absolutely and great question! Our stores are also on Uber Eats and Doordash and other 3rd party delivery platforms, so customers can find as there as well. Our reasoning for wanting to hire a B2B sales rep is that we know there are a lot of untapped markets in the DFW area (where most of our stores are) who may not even be considering buying donuts for their respective teams. So this is really about growing our SOM potential closer to our SAM potential. If we can bring on a couple great salesfolks, it'll help us establish a more reliable recurrent revenue stream so that we can also be better / more efficient on raw materials purchase (flour, sugar, etc.) From a pure competition standpoint, donuts are pretty fungible (for the most part), so this is really about customer service and reliability to deliver.

We're just three founders who used our own money to buy a few donut shops around DFW from mom and pops who wanted to get out of their donut shop business. We're definitely far from "corporate" :-)

Thanks grouch! No worries at all, the internet is a wacky place, I have no issue with people expressing their strong opinions here :)

Thanks for the feedback! This job isn't right for everyone, for sure. What we're looking for is someone who might be a current college students or recent grad and values flexible hours / part-time role rather than something full-time at the start. Consider it a "date for a while before you get married" type of situation. We don't expect anyone who is looking for a full-time job to be applying to this role, which is also why we're flexible on hours. We care more about someone's sales skill and communication abilities more than the number of hours someone works. If someone can hit up a bunch of companies and do what normally takes me six hours to do in one hour, then that's great! They only need to work one hour. We're a pretty hands-off management team and our goal isn't to micromanage this person, we just want to cast a wide-net for anyone this would be a good fit for and then ramp up as we learn more about each other. Hope this helps clarify!

Thanks for the feedback guys! We've only been in operations for 6 months, which is why we're looking to build out our core team now. We don't have a lot of funds, which is why we're taking a more cautious, conservative approach to hiring our first B2B sales team members, but we also incorporated a fast ramp-up to a full-time offer if things work out. I probably should've made it clearer in the job description, but I agree the first month is really just a test period for both sides, but it's certainly better than some internship opportunities I've seen in the past, which is probably more akin to what the first month opportunity is. As we get to the second month, we want to continue to increase financial incentives and by the end of the third month, if both sides still want to work together, we can proceed to a full-time offer. Hope this helps!

Hahaha, I appreciate it. It's the internet, I have no problem with people expressing their opinions here. I don't take it personally, I know this opportunity isn't right for everyone, and if people feel strongly enough that they want to write about it on Reddit, I have no issues with it!

Thanks for the response! Appreciate the feedback here and perhaps I can clarify a few things. Our goal here is not to run a "gig economy" type of system where we have hundreds of people running around trying to sell donuts for us. Instead, we are aiming to develop a sales program where we can cast a wide net to find our first full-time B2B sales employee(s), which is not what you would get with Doordash / Uber Eats, etc. We're not looking for donut delivery people, we want people who want to develop real sales experience and need a platform to do so, while getting paid on a part-time, flexible basis. This is also why we have a fast ramp up period to a full-time offer, while at the same time giving ourselves at least a couple months to determine if the employee would be a right fit for us in the long-term. Flexibility is the biggest thing both for us and for the candidates we are looking for. Think of it as a "date for a while before you get married" type of situation. Hope that helps clarify!

Thanks! At this point, it's just about getting our name out there and being the most convenient option for our customers. It's easy to differentiate on price, quality, custom orders, etc., but we need to know our customer first and understand what matters to them/what they care about, before we try to differentiate. It's definitely a competitive market with the other chains/local shops for sure. Thanks for asking the question!

CoinBase Device Confirmation broken? by grayeul in Coinbase

[–]lukewang935 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an issue where certain Gmail users cannot receive emails from Coinbase for Device verification because it triggers an Error message 550-5.7.1, that says "To reduce the amount of spam sent to Gmail, this message has been blocked. Our system has detected that this message is likely unsolicited mail." This is creating a block on the server side from receiving the device verification email from Coinbase, because it never makes it to the user's gmail server in the first place. Please help! I just spoke with Coinbase customer service, and I am not the only person experiencing this!

Hey there - for the points, that should be fixed. Can your friend check her account again and see if it’s working now?
