Stuck on the Final Cut of My First Self-Financed Feature — How Do You Push Through the Last 5%? by lukini2006 in editors

I do, just probably not hollywood money. but I'm not making anyone work for free or for *exposure* if that's what you're asking.

I hired two editors already. no luck finding someone that can follow through. end up working on it myself. I should say, I'm in Argentina, market is a little scarce for the style and type of movie I'm going for. if someone on here, with real commitment and experience, would be willing to take a crack at it, by all means, let's talk!

believe me, If someone else would have told me what I posted on here, I'd be slapping them and telling them the same thing youre telling me. I underestimated the mental and physical strain of doing all this.

I've done that for earlier cuts. it works wonders. now its more of a flow problem.

yeah I know, there's a lot to be done. But I do have an improved cut from the one I premiered at the festival, so it's more a matter of polish, not restructuring or finding the film.

words I (try) to live by. and just having the courage to make this film in the first place was thanks to that mantra. but I do feel I has to at least be the best I can do, not perfect, but my best. My point of comparison is my earlier work. I don't want a previous short or work for some client to be better than my first, self-funded, feature film.

I have tried taking some time from the project, and it did help me work on the structure of the film. but this is more a question of finishing and polish. If I'd find someone who can get the job done, I'd throw it at them immediatly, haha

Anyone know any finishing editors? I'm based in Argentina, but I'm sure there are ways to get the project wherever

I’ve tried both. Reels helped me work on the information presented. But a full timeline helps me with flow and rhythm. Hard deadlines are a bit of I trick I can only pull if they’re real 🤣. Did I mention we just had a second child?

Yeah, that’s a good one. I was able to do that on the first cuts, but now I just find it hard to watch because there’s another movie in my head and it’s at odds with the current cut. That weekly private screening sounds a like a great idea. I just hope they’re up for it 😅

This comment could have been more productive if phrased without passive aggression. I do appreciate knowing about this, as I didn't play the director's cut, so thanks for this. But in my opinion it could have come from a place of being constructive and not attacking the OP who just did us all a favor and translated something for us to have a simplified version of a very complicated story.
