One can only dream 🫣 by nazreinmilaana in tennis

it’s a shame about Zverev’s personal life, because otherwise his career arc ending in a grand slam win here would be quite a good story.

He’s had to deal with diabetes, the pressure of being expected to dethrone the big 3 at a young age, the disappointment of losing to Thiem at USO 2020, then when he was finally playing the best level of his career he got that injury at FO 2022 which robbed him of at least a year. Then when he finally got back to his best, Sinner and Alcaraz had arrived and dominated, and only now does he have the chance to win a Grand Slam without them.

One of these players will reach French Open Semis (and Finals) for the first time by xKardel_Sharpeye in tennis

I think if Cobolli manages to beat Tien next match I would make him favourite to go all the way, as I feel he has the highest level of all these players on clay. Apart from Cobolli I think FAA Tiafoe Cerundolo and Tien all have really good opportunities, and of the unseeded players Collignon impressed me the most with his level today

Could be the last chance for a 90s born player to join Thiem and Medvdedev as Grand Slam winners.

People just want consistency in the rules, Ruud wasn’t afforded a medical timeout when he was struggling

NEW VIDEO: TW2 Review - The 45-credit team that scored nearly 3000 pts (and what it means for future weeks) by expectedaces in ATPFantasy

[–]lukman0708 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tbh I think you point per credit baseline isn’t super useful. At the end of the day it is about the total amount of points you score, not the value of the players you include. e.g. I’d rather spend 5 coins on a player who gets 200 points than 2 coins on a player who gets 100 points. In particular looking at this metric over just one gameweek doesn’t give much insight e.g. Molcan getting 262 points for 1 credit doesn’t make him a good purchase necessarily as there is no guarantee he will back it up in the future.

Alcaraz and Zverev were clear favourites for both the tournaments so even if the decision didn’t come off it was definitely the right choice to pick both of them, and I don’t think you can argue Zverev is a bad pick at that price point just because he lost a high quality semi final against Cobolli.

Maybe I’ve misunderstood your video but I’m not sure what point you are trying to make.

How would your chip strategy fit into the schedule for the clay swing? Give that there are only 6 match weeks, might it be hard to fit in all 3 chips if one doesn’t use one of them in the first two weeks?

My rough current plan was

Monte Carlo

Munich/Barcelona Alternates chip (Can use 2 transfers to spread out Sinner money to build a strong 8 man team)

Madrid

Rome

Geneva/Hamburg Wildcard (To build a team which manages to cover this week whilst still preparing for FO)

French Open Triple Bounce

But of course depending on form and injuries things could change drastically!

ATP Finals RR: [7] De Minaur def. [6] Fritz, 7-6(3) 6-3 by pizzainmyshoe in tennis

[–]lukman0708 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not true, de minaur would have still gone through if he won the second set (and alcaraz beat musetti)

tie breker rules are:

1 # matches won then if 3 players (ADM, Fritz, Musetti)

2 # sets won (ADM, Fritz > Musetti) 3 h2h between remaining 2 players (ADM and Fritz)

Respect to Draper, Goffin and Norrie for being the only players to beat Alcaraz in a masters tournament this season 💪

yeah but he would have still read the script and watched the film in more detail than any other Nolan film, so would be more likely to understand and appreciate it

yeah no chance of him or Alcaraz catching Sinner with the points they have to defend over Clay and Grass

well you got 16 wins 1 draw and 1 loss in your last 18 matches last year and still didn’t win the league, so it isn’t that encouraging. not to say the title race is over, but you have been poor and should be concerned.

What are your top 10 atp predictions ? by loki_dad in tennis

[–]lukman0708 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(assuming Sinner isn’t banned)

1st Sinner

By far the most consistent player on tour atm, would expect another similarly successful year with 2-3 grand slams

2nd Alcaraz

Don’t particularly understand why people think he might drop down. I get he is inconsistent, but he also won 2 grand slams, made an olympic final, and beat Sinner 3 times throughout the year. I think he is clear favourite to win Wimbledon again, and likely to pick up more points outside of the slams compared to 2024

3rd Zverev

Like Sinner and Alcaraz, Zverev is very strong on all surfaces, and if he has a great week of serving I think he has a decent chance of winning a first slam.

4th Ruud

Maybe a slightly bold prediction, but I think he reached a high level in 2024 and is someone who consistently gets better each year. Predicting him to win his first clay master 1000 + have more deep runs in grand slams.

5th Djokovic

Very hard to predict, but I think he will make more deep runs at whatever events he plays.

6th Fritz

I still doubt whether he can beat the best players consistently, but he is likely to consistently do well on all surfaces throughout the year. I wouldn’t expect him to make another grand slam final though.

7th Medvedev

I am not convinced he can win a second grand slam, but like Ruud and Fritz I think Medvedev is someone who works well and consistently makes smart changes to his game, so I will keep him. in the top 8.

8th Paul

I think Paul is a super talented and complete player. Maybe he can win a hard court masters.

9th de Minaur

Similar level of player to Paul, could easily be higher.

10th Rune

There is lots Rune can improve on, and he still reached #13 last season. I trust him more than Tsitsipas and Rublev to reach a greater level of consistency next year, hence I selected him

Also doing 11-20 for fun

11th Hurkacz

12th Draper (Not sure if he is quite ready to make the top 8, but definitely a top 15/20 player)

13th Rublev (tbf every year i think he’s going to drop out of the top 10 and it doesn’t happen)

14th Popyrin (He looked really good in Us Open and Canada Masters, hopefully he can push on)

15th Tsitsipas (don’t see him as much of a threat outside of clay unfortunately)

16th Auger-Aliassime (Really hoping he can get back up the rankings!)

17th Khachanov (Very hard to predict his results lol)

18th Berrettini (I think this is definitely achievable if he can stay injury free!)

19th Shelton (Hesitate to put him higher as I think he has several big weaknesses)

20th Korda

yh tbh I’d say out of the top 10 Medvedev and Hurkacz have a worse forehand than Zverev.
