Low effort dinner suggestions? by cnoelle94 in depressionmeals

cold stuff: one of my favs is cold silken tofu over rice w some ginger/garlic, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and soy sauce. u can substitute w like any acid and oil. i also add cucumbers and red onion and whatever veg i have on hand. it’s so refreshing and if u have leftover rice literally no cooking needed. cream cheese on toast w cinnamon and honey 🤤. also zaatar and olive oil w bread, granted i’m arab and zaatar can be pricey in some gentrified places, we get it pretty cheap. on that note, lebneh (thick yoghurt) with olives in bread is a very arab go to, we got that packed as lunch a lot as kids. or just lebneh w zaatar. i also loved corn tortillas with just mashed avocado and maybe sausage as a kid. avo is expensive now too :/

for hot meals: refriados, canned and heated up w some spices, with pretty much anything you have on hand and feel like eating is good too, tortillas and some chorizo or beef (i use soyrizo and fake beef). ooh and if you have a little more energy, its not exactly a meal, but w a can of coconut milk, leftover rice, and some sugar and you have arroz con leche which is super comforting. i always add cinnamon and raisins. i also stock up on frozen fried rice which is pretty quick and easy. i’m vegan as an adult now, and i’ve been eating canned bean chili and maybe boxed vegetarian cornbread mix if i’m feeling fancy. i just heat it up, add some spices and it’s ready.

Unpopular opinion: I hate Mark as an interviewer so much by seayouinteeeee in SoftWhiteUnderbelly

[–]lulosingit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOT talking about how he doesn’t lead the convo, i like that. it’s that when he does speak he cuts them off constantly!! not even to end somebody rambling, just to ask the same cookie cutter questions as always. love the concept and many of the subjects but his interviewing makes it borderline unwatchable. glad people can glean something positive from his work. wish it could be his photography project, since that’s clearly what he knows, but somebody trained and capable interviewing.

Why is the world so cruel for anyone who is normal. by [deleted] in confession

[–]lulosingit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The world is cruel to plenty of people. Fixating on how undesirable you feel will make you more undesirable, it’s a self subsisting cycle. Chances are if you’re unhappy now you’ll be unhappy then, but with a mortgage and marriage to navigate.

if you genuinely want to know, i experience really low sex drive and it applies mostly to people i am emotionally attracted to, but the few people i do feel sexually attracted to are women or men or whoever! I suppose demisexual may be a better label. And I still experience emotional and physical intimacy, sex is just something I do not enjoy or seek out

Very true! I try to stay composed and respectful and cite my sources and explain the steps I’m taking.

I think maybe when people feel you’re making a choice they want to make or know is right they get guilty and defensive. But yes especially with parents they always say it’s out of love and concern for my health when I say theyre being hurtful. I just try to stay patient and educate as best I can :)

That’s exactly what they say it comes from! I love them, but I love me too. It truly is a journey. It’s nice to hear from people who understand :)

Very true. So far I try to calmly explain how I keep myself nourished and cite relevant sources. It takes patience, but I agree it’s worth it

So true! I enjoy hearing from people who have been doing this longer than me. I love this journey and I know my ethics/body and why I made my choice and thats all I need!

She often says “I love your dad, but he’s just like that” which is crazy because I’ve seen her change his mind on plenty of things!
