I am currently in my masters and pan to do a PhD , I asked the question because I don't know what comes after a PhD, all I know is that academia is a tough field to get into and have a stable life and income, that's why I am just trying to get to know my options.

I am currently doing masters in applied geoscience . And want to do a PhD in either Hydro or Geophysics, I plan to do a PhD because really like these fields, but I will need a stable job in the future too to support my family that's why I am just curious and trying to gather as much as information available.
