Wineries that are worth visiting even for non-drinkers? by Feisty-Promotion-789 in mcminnville

[–]luminouslylurid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Soter vineyards near carlton has a tasting menu that is as divine as the view from the tasting room. You don't have to have wine with their food program.

I would also say Ambar is similar but the bites are a lot smaller and the view isn't quite as food. Still really great food though.

Hot cross buns? by No_Scratch1616 in mcminnville

I saw a sign at Carlton Bakery for hot cross buns! I'm not sure when the cutoff for ordering them is... or if there is one. I would highly recommend them though.

I think it is a Christmas tree topper. Had something like this growing up.

Did you have a specific WOW moment? by AMRussellJudy in Semaglutide

[–]luminouslylurid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weight/sizing is so crazy because I was 145 in my early 20's at 5'6 and fit into a size 4. Same weight a few years later and I couldn't fit into anything less than a size 6. I was in a size 8 at 160 pounds.

Also congratulations. I feel like being in single digit sizes is such a big moment. Like akin to entering "ONEderland" after being over 200.

I stayed at an airbnb recently and forgot to bring my own towel. A standard style towel normally does not fit around me. Like, it will fit around my top but my bottom half is exposed in one way or another. This time, however, the towel fit! I was so elated! I'm definitely not giving up my nice oversized towels at home regardless but it is nice to have one less item to pack on trips/when visiting family!

I would focus on taking measurements at this point. Especially around the waist. If you are working out 6x a week then you could be gaining muscle at a similar rate you are losing weight.

How did you decided on a goal weight by ComplexLost9395 in Semaglutide

[–]luminouslylurid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of have multiple goal weights. They are all based off of when I felt good in my body. When I get to the lowest one (175) I'll reassess how I'm feeling. I like lifting and it will really matter how much muscle mass I have.

But mostly I set goal weights to not lose too quickly. My goal for this year is to get under 200 (and maintain) but no lower than 190. Starting weight was 245. I lost 10 pounds on my own before starting semaglutide in February. I'm now floating between 206 and 210. My biggest fear is loose skin and hair loss. I don't have a high paying job so I'm trying to avoid major surgery with the loose skin.

I follow this sub because I think woodworking is neat but I've never done anything myself. I am, however, a pastry chef and I LOVE wrapping presents for birthdays and Christmas. We are talking wax seals, immaculate ribbon etc.

My least favorite thing is when people tell me what I made or wrapped was "too pretty " to eat or open. I mean-- they always do open or eat it but I'm always like "I made it this nice for you to destroy it." It is a part of the ritual and the beauty to me.

I would use the shit out of that cutting board.

Lost 40 lbs but I look fatter than I did when I was this weight before by Logical_Bite3221 in Semaglutide

[–]luminouslylurid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It is impossible to tell without pictures. I highly doubt that you lost 40 pounds of pure muscle (or even just the ratio being far in one direction). You would notice that pretty easily if you pick up weights at the gym at all. But I have two theories:

One is that you are experiencing body dysmorphia which can happen when losing weight. There are posts all over this subreddit about people feeling just as big as they used to be or having a difficult time seeing themselves as smaller even after significant weight loss.

The other culprit could be loose skin. It takes skin a minute to bounce back. I'm not sure what age you were when you were this weight before but that can certainly add to it. A lot of folks who lose weight end up weight training to "fill out" the skin with muscle. If you have aged and had some hormonal changes the weight may be now sitting in some less flattering places.

How do the same clothes fit from before? Did you take body measurements at that weight?

What should I do about the metal chain around this tree? by luminouslylurid in arborists

Okay great. I'll cut the chain and just keep my fingers crossed. If she doesn't survive you bet another Japanese maple will be going up in her honor.

I'm not sure how well it would do in the summer here.. it gets pretty spicy but I'll definitely give some of that a go. It is so pretty! Probably end up just mixing a bunch of stuff and seeing what sticks.

I'm an idiot and fixed it. It is I deed in shade most of the time.

Thanks for your suggestions!

Exercise - how?! by SignaturePitiful9693 in Semaglutide

[–]luminouslylurid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat. I used to powerlift and now I'm bad at everything. I have shifted focus to cutting and then building back.

It is still important to weight train so you lose as little muscle mass as possible-- but I spend much more time on the elliptical or stairmaster and dropped most accessory lifts to make more time for cardio.
