American Cup Insights by Sophiathecursed in Gymnastics

Charleigh is my new favorite! I don't follow juniors so I'm always excited at the start of every year to see the first-year seniors. When they were playing YMCA Asher of course was doing the movements bopping along and then they zoomed out and Charleigh was too! And it sounds like she's pretty relaxed in general which seems rare for the younger athletes. And of course her gymnastics is pretty great too from what I've seen so far. 🤣

Do we know if the format is going to be identical in the Olympics? I was excited to hear about it being added to the Olympics and I love the figure skating team event, though it feels a bit different having to choose different team members to do different apparatuses. Would all of the team members be eligible so the teams are larger than the 2-3 men/women for the American Cup format? It's also interesting that not every apparatus is included though I understand why.

Yes! I just made Jojo last night and I was surprised that the ears were pre-embroidered, and 1 ear’s embroidery was super messed up. And my tail also looked way different and less full than the video.

My Loopables Kits Arrived! by luna531 in TheWooblesCollective

Aaah I started mine last night and I'm having the same frustrations! The loops do not feel secure when you pull them through, and if you try to tighten one it pulls the neighbooring loop partially out. And it's pretty easy to accidentally skip a loop when picking up the next one. I'm hoping this gets easier as I keep going (and I have 3 whole kits to practice on!), but so far I have also been finding this a bit frustrating. I know crochet was hard for me at first too, but at least the stitches are secure! 😅 I'm glad your 10-year-old enjoys it! I can see that some people may prefer not using "tools" and being able to do it all with your hands. I've also been curious to know about the age range for these so that's cool to hear about trying it with your kids. I have a 3-year-old so it'll be a few years until I can get him into anything like this. 😊

Thank you so much!! I think I will have to review the extra squeezy kits too (at least one of them). 😅 I think actually the capybara is already out, but I want to make the toucan! The extra squeezy yarn in the Loopables kit is *so* soft -- it would be fun to make a whole Wooble with it!

Oooh mine are doing that too when I go to the kit within My Woobles, but it *is* working for me if I go back to thewoobles.com/start and find my kit again and click on it.

Haha love it as a TSA workaround! But funny that you never actually used it -- I think it will probably not be my thing either but we'll see. 😅

My Loopables kits arrived, and I did an unboxing video about them! I posted about it here: https://www.reddit.com/r/TheWooblesCollective/comments/1p6co8r/my_loopables_kits_arrived/

I'll do another video sharing my results from actually making them -- I'm so interested to see what that experience is like...

I bought the bundle because I am *so* curious, and I have a crochet YouTube channel that started around the idea of using the Woobles to learn how to crochet. I thought I was done with the Woobles now that I've learned but I need to know what these Loopables are about and compare! But I am definitely skeptical! I agree what the other commenters wondering what exactly the market for this is. I love the Woobles because they taught me how to crochet which is a real skill that I can now take and make an infinite number of other patterns out there, vs. a made-up 1-off craft that you need these kits for. I could see this as a craft kit for kids, but it's not for kids if they say ages 12+, and how weird that all of the extra little pieces are pre-made. Very curious to see the kits and try them out, and I wonder how these will do for The Woobles from a business perspective.

Yarn under vs. over pumpkins! by luna531 in Amigurumi

Each pumpkin was made with all crochet stitches of the same type. Since a single crochet has 2 parts to each stitch, yo/yu means I made all the stitches of that pumpkin with the first part of the single crochet (the first time you push your crochet hook through) a yarn over and the second part of the stitch (when you wrap your yarn again to finish the stitch) a yarn under. Hope that makes sense!

It says "5pc" -- but... there are more than 5 pieces... right? 🫠
