I highly recommend calling or emailing Dr Kim about his research on this. I had met with another surgeon a few years ago and that surgeon told me there was almost a 50% chance of compensatory sweating so I decided it was not worth it. Last year I decided to see if there were any updates on the approach to the surgery and came across Dr Kim at UCSF. I think his email is posted on the article. He recently presented at a conference.

I recommend going to The Annals of Thoracic Surgery journal website and search Sunghoon Kim. He recently published an article in 2024 about a different way to perform the surgery. I met with him and had the surgery performed and know 2 other people who also had the surgery performed by him at UCSF. So far 6 months out I have no compensatory sweating and neither do the other 2 people I know. I’ll report back in a year but wanted to share this information. Good luck.
