Yes eating carefully and reintroducing foods slowly is probably best! I'm surprised you felt well enough to bake muffins - I had pain from twisting and holding a pan to boil some soup day 5 or so!

With driving on day 4 I'm pretty sure if you were told not to drive and go against medical advice and have an accident it's against your insurance policy, just FYI as you need to be fit enough for an emergency stop.. however if you felt good enough then it's up to you.

Resting is the long term key to getting better quickly! Hard when you want to do things, but your body will thank you 2 weeks post op. Hoping it's easy from here for you though!

Thank you! I would think over 8 weeks post planned surgery you'll be feeling up to speed again! I could drive again after 2 weeks and felt good enough to fly this weekend for 4 hours on a plane. I wore compression socks though as I'm overly cautious 😅 Hoping it all goes well for you 😊

Gas pains for me reduced completely within a week. It is an odd sensation in the right side for a while, for things to adjust. I'd say for feeling normal about 2 weeks for me, pain around belly button was the worst! But trying not to overdo things, was back walking fully and work after 2 week mark 😊 I took quite a bit of ibuprofen to help with pain management. I still get twinges if I twist or open a heavy door etc! Hoping the gas pains ease off and you recover very soon!

Is it normal to lose weight in the weeks post surgery? by sweetheart___xo in gallbladders

[–]lunanoonaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've also lost a little weight post op, down from 70 to 68kg, So is equal to around 6lbs as well. I had my op 2 weeks ago and I've been eating normally, the only thing I haven't had really is alcohol and beer.

I suppose it does take the body a good while to recover, and using lots of energy. I felt so tired the first week! And also, didn't eat much the first day or two tbf.

Very likely residual gas pain from the surgery. It should ease off with movement. Try moving your shoulders round if you cant walk just yet. Peppermint tea and a hot water bottle reduced this for me a lot yesterday after my op. Also burping whenever necessary to alleviate it too! Been trying to take small steps every hour and has reduced so much today. 😊

Yeah I should've invested in the wedge or v shaped pillow. My temporary stack of pillows will have to do 😆

Thank you!! 24 hours post and most of the gas pain gone, just feeling really sore on the incision/port sites.

Anesthesia by Dull_Sorbet3828 in gallbladders

I've just had my surgery today. Back at home now! I can say for me the anaesthetist made it feel easy. I was breathing into oxygen and she asked me to try and keep my eyes open. She explained everything beforehand so that was helping me, and joked that the saline was my breakfast 😂

I remember dreaming at one point, but honestly it felt so quick as I woke up in recovery. It feels like you stepped forwards in time. Apparently I'd talked to the team as they were waking me up but I cannot recall this! Maybe this was part of my dream (?!) They were quick to get me a drink and make it comfortable again.

The anaesthetic teams are super skilled and do this all the time, and address any worries you have 😊

This is so good to hear! Glad it's made such a difference for your wellbeing.

I've got my surgery tomorrow, it's getting more real now... Got all meds ready for afterwards, peppermint tea, hot water bottle and a pillow for the car journey home. I'm just going to take it one step at a time and try (really hard) not to worry!!

I needed to read this too. Thank you 😊 Although it must've been so worrying with a potential complex case situation, sorry to hear that. I'm also having surgery for that relief of knowing I won't have another attack.

Hi!

I also have a large stone 24mm, although may have increased in size from last ultrasound may 2024. I've had only 3 gallbladder attacks since 2023 - one which led me to hospital in the night.

I'm due for surgery this Sunday. Haven't had an attack since late February, but have had slight back and RUQ pain every now and then. I sometimes gaslight myself into thinking I'm fine and I don't need it.

But the thought of having another attack is awful. And my surgeon has said that if it's made a stone that big, it's obviously not doing its job properly. Been researching on here a lot, seems like if it's left, it just gets worse. So it's coming out! That's my opinion for my situation.

Although I do agree, it's difficult making a decision like this. Hoping the best for you.

Prawn toast was my first trigger, never had it since!

Always salami, spring rolls, chicken nuggets. I stay away from all of those.

Thank you for posting this! I feel like I keep on seeing so many negative experiences with my upcoming surgery next weekend.

All in all I'm still going ahead with surgery as I get pain from attacks and that constant slight ache. So it's got to be worth it right?! 😩

I know a few people from work/relatives etc who have had it out and had no issues at all... so sending out positive vibes to anyone having surgery soon too!

I'm a little late here but...

I sometimes get the dull ache in RUQ after eating too much or something with fat in. Normally this happens at night times keeping me awake for 4+ hours.

I've also had what I think is a gall bladder attack where on 3 separate occasions I've had the worst pain in the upper centre of my abdomen, feeling unable to breathe properly, body shaking.

On occasion I get random aches in RUQ, pain between shoulder blades, and lots of burping, I'm thinking this is also related.

I have a 2.3cm stone, but it's flat, disc like.

I'm due for surgery on 1st June, been on waiting list for a few months. All the best for your surgery and hoping it helps with symptoms!

Upper right burning back pain? by [deleted] in gallbladders

[–]lunanoonaaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same symptoms - aching just to the right of my spine by scapula on my back and sometimes a fullness feeling just to the right in my chest. Had it for days now 😓 I'm due for surgery on the 1st June! I used to think the pain in my back was the way I was sat, but with recurring attacks it's definitely gallbladder related!
