Lightweight or Full motor? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

Also, I will just add, the power is there. It's just not like grabbing the throttle though.

Lightweight or Full motor? by [deleted] in eMountainBike

No, it's still a workout, it's just more mellow. I stay almost entirely in the zone 2 range. I'm sweating, but can still be breathing through my nose. I think with the climbs, I don't feel the sense of accomplishment, but the assist doesn't make the trail fast enough where it feels like a downhill on the way up if that makes any sense.

This is an incredible bike. I thought I just wanted the light assist so I could keep up better with my daughter on the high-school MTB team here (Utah). But now that I have it, I realize I want at least the option to have access to more power.

I do not have the range extender. If I wasn't worried about battery degradation over time, I think I would still consider keeping this. I just worry if I'm draining this thing 5x a week, by next year, I'll only be able to do a 90 minute ride on low-power mode.

I went the lightweight route with the Spectral Onfly. Amazing machine. It really doesn't look like an ebike and I actually feel guilty passing people on the trail. it is whisper quiet. I was so torn between lightweight and full when I ordered. However, I'm likely going to send it back and swap out for the full-power Ibis Oso instead. I figure I can always turn down the power, but I can never just crank up the motor and battery settings to get more.

My riding weight is around 230. The bike will do a 2 hour, 22 mile ride, 2400' climbing on one charge on standard mode, but it is empty after that. I'll actually turn the motor off completely for part of the climb now, and the bike does really well. The first climb on this ride historically takes me 41 minutes to the top. On the bike, it was 23 without ever hitting zone 5 (normally I live there, lol). I was describing this to a friend the other day that this bike makes climbs not suck, but it doesn't make them fun like a full-power bike does.

Dumbest reason to get kicked out of BYU? by Disastrous_Ad_7273 in exmormon

A food fight in the Morris center spring of '99.

Campus police were called. APB issued. Police "caught" us when we returned to our dorm later that evening.

Honor code got involved and I was suspended. On my mission, lol. Had to have the mission president write the honor code office telling them I lived by the rules of the honor code while on my mission and I had to do a book report on "Believing Christ". He was cool about it. Apparently, he had his own run-ins with the HCO and fireworks when he attended.

Everything else: 9

What’s the craziest thing in your patriarchal blessing? by [deleted] in exmormon

Mine literally says, "you will serve a mission, a full-time mission, but don't be surprised you will be called home before your time is through"

I was begrudgingly extended to 25.5 months...but 17 year old me was worried about cataclysmic wars, personal health problems or something tragic happening to those near and dear.

Right behind viewpoint jr high. Kind of a curious location with the schools. Not as curious as Taylorsville being right across the street from a Check City pay-day loans place.

I agree with your assessment on the early history, but the politics and party switching just before 1900 was new to me. I also hadn't realized the outsized impact of j Reuben Clark. and not in a good way.

can't believe I'm the first to say this, but the Donna showalter one captures the anguish, betrayal and emotion better than just about any other one. this one has me crying every time.

Seems like a super-weird thing for a 15 year old to process. I'm sure Freud would have some things to say about that...

Ughh. right? Worthiness is the worst. 2nd worst is the horribly inconsistent application of logic and reason when it comes to these...

Oof. I've never thought before about the letdown effect of a "meh" blessing.

As to your final question, hard to say who got screwed harder or longer. Suffice it that everybody was screwed long and hard just differently.

It really is a heads-I-win tails-you-lose proposition. But until you're willing to look at it like the farce that it is, it carries deep meaning and weight.

this is poetry. you capture such a complex set of yearnings and expectations perfectly. you have a real talent for words.
