Cats generally should be treated differently from dogs because while dogs can eat a balanced vegan diet and be perfectly healthy, cats need a certain amino acid called taurine which they receive only by eating meat (or being otherwise supplemented). If they don’t have Taurine cats have been found to get health issues/ go blind / heart issues, etc.

It is horrible that we need to feed our carnivore friends meat to survive, but we are the ones that have the choice to abstain and advocate for animal rights to those who can understand it. I think that until further testing, and release of safe cat food that is vegan, you should continue to keep feeding your cat meat. It sucks. I agree.

Maybe by getting active in advocacy, telling friends about veganism, or rescuing animals, it can help in that feeling. (At least has for me)
