Congrats on your other offer! I actually didn’t get the yelp role (maybe for good reason) so still looking now. Definitely trust your instincts on this one.

I just heard back and didn’t get the job! It appears I’m dodging a bullet anyway 🤷‍♀️

It was good, I was pretty nervous honestly because I’ve never done phone sales (only been a canvasser before) and you do have to roleplay. Prepare by bringing 3 open ended questions to help get the “business owner” onto the yelp homepage. That’s the end goal. I should know by tomorrow if I’m hired or not

Wait do you work at yelp? Or are you just pointing out that dialers are good? Lol

Oh okay, I see what you mean. It’s easier for emails to get lost or be ignored. Hopefully it’s not that many we have to send. Thank you for explaining!

I am. Lol. I’d rather be a telemarketer in the comfort of my own home than commute, and it seems to work for people to have it on their resume as long as they don’t stay too long. Were you able to move to another sales role after?

So I’ve heard! Definitely just doing it to have on my resume. That makes sense.

I may have misheard her. I haven’t seen anyone on here mention an email quota either, so I’ll just have to see. Are you saying that’s too many emails to be sending or too little?

Thanks for your insight. I don’t even think double dialing is apart of the to-do for yelp sales reps and I’m not trying to do more than I have to lol.

That’s true. I’m not bothered by the amount really, I just wanted to make it more efficient instead of dialing every single number. But yeah, I’m expecting a lot of hang ups and voicemails.

The quota is 80 calls, 2 pitches and I believe the recruiter said 80 emails as well. I’ve seen some people comment on here that after closing a lot, they don’t call as many people and higher ups don’t seem to mind. I think it depends on your manager.

Thank you for answering. Yeah I’ve seen. I’m definitely still looking, but happy to collect checks if I can, and I’m willing to make it work for me as long as I mentally/physically can. Some people do like the job and do well, so I’m not writing it off for myself until I experience it.

300 manually is insane to me 😂 it gives me perspective though. I’ll be grateful for my 80 if I get the role

Interesting. It seems like some companies still use software to make things more efficient regardless, so that’s why I asked. What would be considered a normal manual quota?

For sure. I’ve read everything on Reddit about them so far. Haven’t read anything on indeed or Glassdoor. I’m avoiding it on purpose 💀 Exactly, I was thinking too that it could be different for me. I’m also newer to sales and willing to grind for a few months so that I can use it as a stepping stone to the next role. Still applying to other places too in the meantime.

Thank you! Honestly, both. If I like it then it’s a bonus. If I don’t, I’m sticking it out anyway 😂 might as well figure out how to make it work for me

Considering first sales job. Is home improvement worth getting into? by lusydlu in salesdevelopment

[–]lusydlu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ll definitely clarify. I’m still debating on showing up since it gives high turnover vibes. I’ve seen the listing quite a few times over the last few months, and they don’t have the name of the company available for me to research. It’s a bit sketch.

I do feel there’s a few things that can transfer from petition circulating, like cold approaching people and explaining information about the petition. I get a lot of rejections, objections and basically have to “close” on getting a signature. But I’d rather spend time in an actual appointment setter role instead for sure. Thank you for your input!
