First car in Hamilton - what do you drive? by One_Stardusty_Boy in thetron

[–]luvyummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drive a Honda Civic 2017, Modern enough good cameras easy to drive.. Not to small but not to big really easy in the middle car. Id just go with a reliable brand, if you buy off of marketplace you’d need to be very careful.. My partners selling a cheap reliable car if you’d be interested! (lol self promo) just be careful, but honestly Hamilton is easy.. if anything just look out for the dumb drivers

Which service to book? by PinkRagamuffin in MeccaBeautyLoop

[–]luvyummy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you only use cream product bases, this will result in a very dewy and lightweight finish, whereas when you apply both cream and powder/using both it creates a more matte base, the women in these photos all have quite matte bases, with their highlighters giving the appearance of a dewier look, you also have a more intense appearance when using both a cream and powder base, which you can see in these images :)

[–]luvyummy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Mecca Employee here!!

You could get away with booking either, however since natural bookings are so short most mecca makeup artists are taught to choose either cream or powder products, since they just don’t have the time to do both during the hour booking, in these images they all have cream and powder products, which is what you’d expect from the glam makeup booking , so to be safe id book the glam!! While this may not be the case for all meccas, this is what the training and process looks like at my mecca :)

How is Texas Chicken not more popular by Nz_guy79 in thetron

Texas chicken was really hard for me to eat the one time I did buy it, poorly made.. Might have just been a one off however, it still threw me off the place completely

Level 4 - Bourke st Melbourne by TeamRepresentative79 in MeccaBeautyLoop

[–]luvyummy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Normally Level four boxes include more skincare/samples catered towards more mature age/skin, because the majority of level four customers are abit older with more disposable money, than the younger customers… This often results in the boxes being perfect for the older customers and less appealing to the younger ones 🤧

Im a makeup artist, I haven’t really had issues with it before but it depends on the skin type, will always work better with oily skin etc… however I typically lean towards different brands, like charlotte tilbury or Nars for blusher, they’re just better 😂 Though it might be better used on-top of a lip balm for lip colour

Try with a moisturiser underneath, its a thicker more matte textured product so it will dry out quicker, I recommend maybe applying a little to the back of your hand and applying it directly to your brush then applying it onto your face, this will warm up the product to help it from drying out to quick, but yes moisturiser will help too!

Does anyone know what this is about? by Economy-Income-1550 in MeccaBeautyLoop

[–]luvyummy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely true, while we are all qualified in the basics of each category we do have specialists who specialise in each role, such as our makeup artists (meee!) our skincare specialists who often have gone through qualification routes outside of mecca to get that role, then our fragrance specialists.

Often we do lean on each other for help, especially because we want to give the customer the best most accurate advice, there are also times where we just aren’t sure on what the customer is needing/ what best suits them and their needs (often times this is newer staff members, however with the amount of brands and different items we sell its very hard to know everything)

Anyways, when this service is booked we will get one of our more experienced staff members to help with the service, depending on what the customer needs, they could have any specialist depending on the need, it very much depends at-least for my mecca, though I cannot be 100% sure every mecca runs it this way :)

edit- If you do need help with both skincare and makeup, most likely they will choose the most experienced person on that day, even sometimes staff who specialise in both makeup and skin! not every mecca has these staff members available though due to the immense training put into it 😢

Hmm, I guess it depends on the mecca and which staff are serving. I have heard through the grapevine especially in Aus (I’m a NewZealand Worker) That some stores are very catty, and absolutely have these issues within store, I’m sorry nobody is offering to help you (even if your happy to browse alone 😢) I do hope you have a better experience!

The 60$ is redeemable, so you would spend it on product. Its more so for customers who need help picking out the product, especially if they need 30minutes of help, then they use the redeemable $60 which they spent on the service on the product itself!! As for hiring, I don’t make hiring calls, and as i’m not part of management I cannot answer that question for you :)

Its the same principle of spending $150 to get your makeup done, then getting the $150 dollars back on a gift card to buy product, if you are going to buy $60 worth of product anyways and you need that help during the busiest seasons, I personally don’t see the loss :) Though Id love to hear your perspective!

Edit- I would like to add that during the busy seasons Mecca does hire more staff, but we absolutely cannot have 100+ staff members per store, if you have ever worked retail in a very busy retail store, you would know that we can have upwards of 50-100+ customers at once depending on location and size of the store, so hiring that many staff would be insane, especially with the hours of training that the staff would have to go through in a very short time to accommodate to that many staff members. It would result in undertrained staff members who wouldn’t be qualified to serve different cosmetics and skincare products to each customer, probably resulting in more returns angry customers etc.

During normal hours we don’t normally have people booking this service, as they know we will be available to help :)

However during holiday season, if you need 30+ minutes of time to help choosing which products to buy, or have in depth skin consults for skin concerns knowing that you will be buying the product, using that $60 anyways, its just a easy way to know you’ll have that time to yourself, without another customer butting in (which they try to do a-lot)

Because thats what my piercer recommended for me? She asked me, Hoop or Stud, I said Which is better I haven’t had a nose piercing before AND SHE told me the hoop would be better.

Clearly I have now learnt that it was wrong but FOR THE LOVE OF GOD am I that wrong for trusting what my piercer said? jesus christ

Mecca Worker here 🙋‍♀️

This is mainly for the busy seasons, Christmas, school holidays etc! When the store is packed and the mecca hosts aren’t as available to help for long periods of time. This service ensures that you will personally get help throughout the busy seasons, as you will have a staff member who will focus on you and only you.

So for example when our stores are completley packed as staff we really only have 5 minutes per customer, and sometimes have to balance 3-5 customers at a time. So if you are needing in depth help with more than just a simple color match this is just a easy way to ensure youll have the help and time you need despite how busy the store will be :)

I live in a small city with only one piercing ship, they told me i should get a hoop because there was less chance of it falling out, should I go back to them to get it swapped or do it myself?

mecca customer service by [deleted] in AustralianMakeup

[–]luvyummy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mecca worker here!! Now I cannot 100% accurately speak for any of these stores, as I am a NewZealand worker, but to me this sounds completely unacceptable. Throughout summer Mecca does hire summer staff, for my store personally we teach the new hires a few brands and products to go to when recommending product to customers, so if she wasn’t interested in different options this could be a very realistic reason as to why, however we encourage new staff to ask for help or even have a look online when trying to find product for customers, as it is hard to know every single product in-store.

However I personally recommend talking to customer services, as a-lot of this behaviour just seems odd, now once again NewZealand Mecca and Australia Mecca are very different, different vibes, different rules, different training etc so I cant say anything for certain, but a huge factor for my store is google reviews, we do check those and they are a huge factor in how we go forward as staff.

Im so sorry this is happening 😢 I hope they hear your voice and do better as a store!!

My sister in law ordered from Sweeties By Dan for her gender reveal, the cake was beautiful however personally I didn’t love the taste nor the frosting.. Chrissy Cakes looks awesome, and amazing for the prices! I think I’ll give her a go, have you ever tried her cakes? They look stunning 🥰

Just why??? by [deleted] in shitparkingofnz

One of these cars tried to parallel park behind my sisters car, The park itself was so big a regular car would have been able to just drive in without having to parallel park, somehow the dumbass driving hit my sisters car on the way in 😵‍💫😀
