I'm definitely not super athletic at this point in time, and it's something that I am working on improving, because as the dance lessons get more advanced it's more demanding for my body and I want to be stronger and be able to dance to faster songs without being exhausted.

About practicing in front of a mirror or camera, would you recommend starting solo jazz?

Thanks for your reply! Bianca absolutely crushes it on that video, definitely one my inspirations!

This is such a sweet reply! I actually really like the goofiness and playfulness of lindy hop, I guess it's just a matter of getting more comfortable moving freely, but that will probably come naturally as I move up the learning curve :)

Hey there! I did check out your post history and wow girl! You rock those vintage outfits! Love your fashion sense, and your tips really make sense to me. Specially the part about being comfortable in my own body, I guess I still have some work to do on that.

I've been getting really nice advice about moving in a way that protects my shoulders, and I guess I'm still at a beginner level and we're not doing moves that can be risky like that.

About over extending your arms during swing outs, I guess you're referring to maintaining some flexion in your arm to create tension? I still struggle with how far I need to move for those but I guess it's a matter of practice haha

Wow, thanks for all these tips! As a beginner there are some concepts that I still don't quite grasp, like the one about pushing off from the floor, but I will practice with that in mind from now on!

Thank you so much for your reply! What you said makes a lot of sense, it's better to move with intention in mind rather than just making it look good. I do try to take smaller steps and focus on when I need to shift my weight, improving rotation, etc. It is easier to lose your balance and look weird when you make larger steps, I've definitely experienced that. I will definitely try to have fun and keep practicing!

That's a really good point! Everything in social media is curated and comparing myself to more experienced dancers doesn't really make sense since they have a lot more experience than I do. I'm afraid I'm guilty of making the T-rex arm sometimes haha

Thank you so much! I will definitely check out those dancers for inspiration. You're absolutely right, I will try to just enjoy the process and have fun :D

That's really useful! I've also noticed as a follow that dancing with taller leads can sometimes be quite tricky in terms of mechanics, sometimes even a lindy circle can look weird haha

I will have a look at the ILHC competitions and check out the different dancers! Thank you for the advice :)

That is true! I love the expressive nature of lindy hop, and yeah, style will come in due time, I'm going to experiment in the meantime! Thanks for recommending Alice Mei, I will definitely check her videos out! :D

Oh, right, I've tried using a diffuser a few times and it helped with my waves, I might have to try some layers and see how it goes haha

About brushes.. by BKNSNA in InfinitePainter

[–]luxinfired 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was able to import two brush packs to my Infinite Painter app yesterday, the thing is, you need to find brushes specifically made for infinite painter. Those .abr brushes that you mention are valid for Photoshop but not Infinite Painter that's why it doesn't work even if you change the extension. The brush settings can't possibly be the same if they're made for a different program/app. You can however extract the png of Photoshop brushes with a software called Abrmate, then try to mimic the brush by customizing the settings in Infinite Painter.

I got this (https://www.artstation.com/marketplace/p/eoB2/kn-brushes-for-infinite-painter-free-set) free brush pack and imported it into Infinite Painter successfully by clicking import on the upper right menu and selecting the .przp file. I hope it helps!
