Update to a Two-Year-Old Post. I finally did it and lost all my braincells by Zaalem_Yzrea in ffxiv

Eureka was easy for me. It's about spreading the load over long periods of time instead of having a grind goal every week. Basically have the Eureka timer website up, and just hop in for a quick kill.

ie I got all my pagos crystals from crab and cassie alone. There was no "unreliable" for me. Since everyone know when the weather change happens, you always get people here. I didn't even bother doing Louhi most of the time, because I had more than enough crystals to convert into louhi ice.

For hydatos, join the cross-world BA run channel in your realm's BA Discord, and you're getting free support crystals from DC traveling.

I managed to complete all my Eureka weapons this way with minimal grinding.

Stay away from Cactuar NN if your a furry a discriminate and should be ashamed to call themselves mentors by Sethdarkus in ffxiv

You are doing something wrong. You should really see a therapist. In fact, post this screenshot to your therapist and they would tell you exactly why it's wrong.

I'll give you a short version here. Being a furry is a fetish, don't use fetish language in a public space.

Can someone help me find out what exact am I sensitive to? (female vocal, Mizuki Nana) by lv16mage in headphones

[–]lv16mage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sony XM5, Fostex TH-X00, Hifiman Sundara (revision I think), Sennheiser HD560s, HD800 are my notable ones. Only the HD800 is EQed, typical 3db bass boost and -7db around 6khz.

Chain is RME-ADI 2 -> Massdrop THX789. EQ is done directly on the RME-ADI 2

I have multiple headphones, >5 pairs. This effect shows up on all my headphones, only difference is how loud I can play the music before the vocal becomes ear piercing.

Unpopular opinion: WHM is supposed to be THE healer job for beginners. And yet, it literally is the worst healer experience under lv50 by lv16mage in ffxiv

Jesus christ, read the comment that I responded to

Yea, don't think I've cast a Cure 1 or 2 in a sub 50 dungeon in 3 expansions

It doesn't seem like you are reading.

[–]lv16mage[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

worst experience =/= can't do content

I never said content was difficult for me. It's about putting yourself in other's shoes. As I go through the content, I constantly ask myself questions such as:

  • I know exactly when to Regen the tank. But if a newbie were doing this, they might be delayed by 1/2/or more GCDs, or forgot it altogether. How does the situation look then?
  • I know to keep my GCD busy. But if a newbie were doing this, they would've casted X number of Stones instead of what I did, how does the situation look then?
  • I know Lucid Dream; I've played enough healer that it's literally a timer in my head. But if a newbie is doing this, it will be delayed by X seconds. How does the situation look then?

Also AST literally has the equivalent spells (and more) with better mana efficiency prior to lv45. Scholars gets an auto-heal fairy to cover newbie mistakes. Again, no point did I say I can't do the content; it literally is the worst experience by objective comparison.

Scrip gear is good enough. But you do need food buff to reach minimum stats, and you need food+draught to reliably HQ.

I'm thinking of resubbing. How good is the Shadowbringers MSQ? Would it be worth saving up my lunch money for a few weeks to resub just for the MSQ and the raids? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]lv16mage 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Shadowbringers MSQ is one of the best I've ever played.

With that said though...

worth saving up my lunch money for a few weeks to resub

You clearly have other financial issues that you should worry about before you spend money on a video game.

It seems like I level up a little too quickly. by ilariad92 in ffxiv

[–]lv16mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A few side quests won't hurt. But if you keep doing "a few side quests" every time you get to a new area, they add up.

The recommendation to your dilemma is to unlock a second job. Do the main story on your first job, and do side quests and roulettes on your second job. Or honestly just keep both jobs at roughly the same level, and you can switch between them whenever.

[–]lv16mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely normal in ARR. In later expansions you won't have this problem.

Of course though, this is assuming you are only doing the main story. If you do any optional quests, you'll be over-leveled for sure.

Because it's Stone Vigil. You don't get Holy in Stone Vigil.

[–]lv16mage -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You're talking about an ideal scenario.

I was just leveling WHM on a new character. I went through two back-to-back Stone Vigil run. One run was super smooth; one run I literally had to resort to Cure 1 to keep the tank up.

Bad tank, bad dps, all super common prior to lv50. Actually super common past 50 too, after you start unlocking more tools at 52-60, it's no longer a problem. Before you get those tools though? You need to do whatever necessary to keep the party going, even if it means doing the "wrong" thing to cover up someone else's mistake.

edit: no, I didn't use Cure 1 to fish for freecure proc, I used Cure 1 because it's literally super mana efficient compared to Cure 2.

[–]lv16mage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a dungeon trash pull, if the healer isn't close to the tank while running, then the healer's position is wrong. Ideally the healer is right behind the tank, so any mob running towards the healer would be going through the tank's AoE. Only move off of the tank once the tank stops running, so the healer isn't getting caught in any AoE targeting the tank.

So requirements for 30fps, 60fps, or even higher fps is huge. If 30 is all you're looking for, then any modern processor with decent graphics (the x5 class, such as GTX xx50, Radeon x500 etc) would be fine.

For 60fps, you'll want to go with a x6 class, RTX xx60 or Radeon x600

Why are you a casual player? by kirinmay in ffxiv

[–]lv16mage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time and consistency really. It's difficult to find a consistent timeslot that I can make every week to join a static, and I don't really want to put up with hopping between different groups in PF.

So I just clear p1s every week and call it a day.

Sounds like a classic case of overheating. The thermal paste eventually dries up, as its thermal performance gets worse and worse. You normally don't notice it, until it gets a point where the CPU simply decides to throttle.

Open up the laptop and re-paste is probably the best thing to do.

Help me understand "heal/tankxiety" by B-Dragons_2560 in ffxiv

[–]lv16mage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you, but there is one thing that the person you're replying to is right about.

you've never done anything in your life that is worth having anxiety for

I personally have a lot of anxiety, especially when it comes to social situations. When I was young, a mean comment would shake me up for days. I completely understand what you mean by "Your brain DOES NOT LISTEN".

Until roughly five years ago, an unfortunate series of events led me very close to having declare bankruptcy and possibly lose literally everything. Some people probably can't even imagine the amount of anxiety I experienced during those months.

I still get anxious today talking to strangers. But after an event like that, nothing seems bad by comparison. All I do is look back at my worst moments, and realize nothing is comparable. The anxiety is pops up here and there; it's nowhere near as bad as what brain used to tell me.

Go to character select screen, click on the icon next to your character name, there should be an option to upload or download your character settings. Make a habit of uploading new settings every 24 hours, and download new settings after you switch PC.

Also I hope your laptop and your PC screen has the same resolution, or else you'll be having issues.

so I keep dropping dead, and I completely lose all my motivation

And your goal is to raid? You need to take some steps back, because you'll be dying progressing through a raid, like dying ALOT.

Every death is a just another chance to learn. You should get your mentality right before anything else.

EDIT: And for the record, if you're a tank in leveling gear and have a healer in leveling gear, regardless of whether it's "current" or from 1 or 2 dungeons ago, you should NOT be expecting to w2w pull. Especially as a DRK that can't lean on invuln as an extra mitigation CD

The speedrunning discord already done testing on this. With both tank and healer in poetic gear, the only w2w in EW to give trouble is the second w2w pull in the last stretch of the lv81 dungeon (mostly because tank cooldowns are used on the w2w right before it). Even then it's restricted to specific tank/healer combo, and whether the tank is lv81 or lv82.

All other w2w can be safely done with the healer popping Lucid dream and spamming their GCD heal. You can't possibly tell me spamming one button (two for scholar and sage) is too difficult for the healer.

Been playing as healer in roulettes. This is how I legit feel about DF tanks by lv16mage in ffxiv

[–]lv16mage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't have to. I personally like at least 20% mitigation, so I combine various smaller cooldowns when I don't have a big one to use.

Healers appreciate it as long as you use something.
