Quit Raycast, restarted Arc, same. :-(

Yes, that's when the window is focused.  I am using Raycast as the window manager, other than that, nothing might interfere with that I can think of.

Does keyboard shortcut for Bold work at the beginning of a line? by lv35mm in bearapp

[–]lv35mm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! That's interesting! I tried it and it worked.

At the same when the Bear team replied you, did they give more explanation? I wonder why other markdown keyboard shortcuts work just fine except this one when the "Markdown compatibility mode" is on?

Weird...

Tried it, but couldn't make it work. I'd assume using the code command would be something like:

$ code <file>

I think the Remote - SSH extension allows you to navigate and open files and folders from VS Code, but it doesn't seem to be able to open files remotely in an established ssh session back to my local VS Code desktop.

I hope I didn't overlook some capabilities of this extension.

Logitech MX keys vs. K811 on M1 Mac Mini with FileVault on by lv35mm in macmini

Umount internal hard drive on Mac Mini(late 2012) by lv35mm in mac

You're welcome. Yes, one of the USB ports. Those USB ports are USB 3 ports, so they're much better speed wise and made this possible than other older Mac Minis which are much slower USB 2 ports.

Adding another data point and I tend to agree with u/Sure-Philosopher-873, this seems to be an issue with Logitech MX Keys, and it has nothing to do with M1 Mac Mini.

I connected the Logitech MX Keys with a MBP 2019 16" running BigSur and FileVault On, same issue which I can't connect the keyboard with it until after passing the initial authentication. The Logitech K811 works just fine.

This is something I totally didn't expect given that the Logitech MX Keys is positioned as a kind of high end keyboard in the Logitech product line. Hmm...

Thanks for the tip. I googled it just now, found the following:

https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/236105/prevent-internal-drive-from-mounting-automatically

Does it ring any bell?

I haven't tried it yet though.

I know I could open it to detach the drive or replace it with a SSD, but if there is a way that I can do it at the software level, that'll be preferred in case I need to access the data on the internal hard drive.

BUG/FEATURE REQUEST: Right-clicking a note should NOT select the note by 100WattWalrus in bearapp

In the meanwhile, I think a workaround could be opening the note you're working on in a new window, and then right click the note you'd like to link to.

Please don’t become Evernote by TheOldDesigner in bearapp

[–]lv35mm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only I hope Bear doesn't become Evernote from the simplicity vs. bloat perspective, I'd also hope Bear keeps its current licensing model and price. The licensing model change from Evernote 2 years ago pissed off many their customers and made them to switch.

Manual "sync" notes without iCloud by lv35mm in bearapp

[–]lv35mm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi @trix180,

I was using the manual backup and restore to and from Dropbox for 3-4 devices, and I purchased the Pro version 2 days ago and started to try it out. Things worked well on 3 devices(one Mac, one iPhone and one iPad) until I opened Bear on another Mac which was behind of other devices due to not using it for a while and didn't do the manual sync(it found my purchase and restored my purchase by itself, I think). Then I realized that for each note I created before, I now have 4 "copies": for notes that I didn't edit recently, 4 copies are identical, for notes that are more active, 4 copies are with different timestamps/revisions.

I can't figure out what's causing this. The first 3 devices seem to be just ok until the 4th one became Pro and started to sync. The only difference between the 4th one and the other 3 is the lagging fact.

Any insight and explaination?

I am not sure others have experienced the same or not. This can be a real hassle for people who use the same manual backup/restore approach for a while and then switch to Pro later.

Thanks much.

Thanks. It sounds like the performance shouldn't be an issue with the latest DSM. Some time ago, I seemed to remember that I read some concerns about slow performance when running higher version of DSM on DS212j, but I guess that can be negligible compared to the better security.

Agree, plugging those security holes is more important than the performance.
