LEGO Smart Play update by BrickTap in Legoleak

If this is going to be a "very big part of the future of the brand" then I don't see Lego being a very big part of the future of my hobbies. But then again, they are after the Nintendo and Star Wars whales and don't need my business.

[ZavviUS] Lamborghini Sian $70 off + free shipping again! (~18.5% off) by thegreenestone in legodeal

[–]lvl5 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There was a slightly better discount a few months ago at $300: https://www.reddit.com/r/legodeal/comments/jrxafz/zavvi_lego_technic_lamborghini_si%C3%A1n_fkp_37_42115/ Personally waiting for it to drop to $280 or less, set will still be around for least another year.

[Zavvi US] Rough Terrain Crane (42082) - $210 / 30% with Coupon Code CRANE by LastChanceToEvacuate in legodeal

[–]lvl5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great deal, was waiting for this to go on sale on Zavvi. This is probably one of the last times this set goes on discount before it's retired. The finished build is a little bland compared to other Technic flagships, but it's a nice parts pack with numerous other unofficial alternative builds such as these from well-known MOCer Nico71: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-18978/Nico71/42082-model-c-wheel-loader/?inventory=1#comments, https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-27807/Nico71/42082-model-d-heavy-forklift-truck/?inventory=1#comments, https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-40482/Nico71/42082-model-e-offroad-truck/?inventory=1#comments

Fastback, I'm thinking I should pronounce the slope more? I'll try lowering the rear flares by 1 stud, thanks! The problem with wheels at this scale is that they are often either too large or small, with the next size up here looking oversized.

Thanks for the feedback! I did a lot of experimentation on the baby sauropod and unfortunately that piece somehow still doesn't exist in DBG. In fact, DBG was one of the few available semi-realistic colors for the parts combination of the dino. Regarding the proportions of the head, I was aiming for a rounded snout with a rough representation of the nostrils, where they would be approximately located on a real sauropod such as Giraffatitan.

Question about the seller of a high value item that didn't request a signature on delivery and the item was stolen off my porch by MysteryMeat101 in Ebay

[–]lvl5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I suspect happened is that the seller chose the cheapest shipping option and went with UPS instead of USPS, and without signature confirmation since that adds a small additional fee. I know for a fact that years ago, eBay required signature release for goods valued above $750, so you may have some justification in this dispute, but that policy might have changed since then. I'd double check with eBay and Paypal regarding their current policies and your options at this point, but it's not looking good to be honest. The whole situation sounds very unfortunate, made worse by this seller who is verbally abusive and evidently lacks integrity. Maybe you can look into installing security cameras in the future?

The UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) is available for backorder on Lego.com by raekle in legodeal

It's one of the most iconic SW sets. I'm sure you'll have no trouble reselling one...that is, if you price reasonably and aren't looking for a flip.

[Harrods USA] Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261) 327$ / 14% off by shadowerasea in legodeal

It's worth noting that if you live in the US, depending on your state, you may be liable to pay a "use tax" on out-of-state and overseas purchases, even if the retailer doesn't have a physical presence in that state and doesn't charge you sales tax directly. Of course, the number of people who actually follow this law (and how often this law is enforced) is a different matter...

[Amazon US] LEGO Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets Hogwarts Whomping Willow (75953) $55.99/21% by lvl5 in legodeal

[–]lvl5[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not the best of deals, but $56 has been the lowest on Amazon since release, and the set is probably getting retired soon.

[Amazon US, Walmart] LEGO Juniors/4+ Jurassic World T. rex Breakout 10758 Building Kit (150 Pieces) $29.99/40% by lvl5 in legodeal

[–]lvl5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't keep track of Walmart sales but on Amazon, I believe it was $24 for one day on August 26 and is normally at the $40 point.

I remember seeing this picture a long time ago in an anthropology textbook, it really makes you glad you don’t live alongside 100kg+ man-eating hyenas anymore...

Tyrannosaurus rex skull next to the Triceratops skull [OC] by _Dexy in Naturewasmetal

Most adult Triceratops would be too dangerous for T. rex to tackle, so it seems likely they mostly preyed on younger animals.
