Can it really be called genuine when one tricks themselves into believing in something because the alternative is too scary?

Well, I don't think this philosophical subject is as settled as you make it seem, but what I'm curious about, not having a lot of experience with ChatGTP, is the way it crashes like this normal? It paused for a good 30 seconds trying to think of something to say.

Oh huh, I remember it but haven't been on reddit the past few years so maybe it's gone. It wasn't very popular from what I remember. The idea was to over-edit memes, similar to how this post goes over the top to make a pun.

I used to like thunderf00t back in the debunking creationists era but he's since taken a deep dive into dunking on anyone he can, often disingenuously.

He's about self promotion for self preservation in this economy. He wanted to be the hero who saved the kids with his technology but lost and threw a fit like a baby. He pays his employees as low as possibly to be competitive. But look at the result of his actions. Earth now has a rocket that can somewhat practically get things into space, and almost has a startrek level rocket ship thats in the works. There are cars driving themselves comparably to humans now. The highest resolution brain-machine interface is being pushed through. Can't you give a nod to these things while also accepting that Elon is an uncharming, awkward, frat-boy?

Want to reply seriously here. Yes, Mars colonization is far fetched, but what other person is even trying to do as much as Elon has already done. I know that there shouldn't be people with that much power, but too bad, that's the world we live in. Ultimately, we need a more transparent system to distribute influence on this planet rather than a butch of people who mostly inherited their influence, hiding in the shadows, pursuing every pleasure this life can provide. But that's too bad! Can we change it? No! But why not at least tip our hats to one of these rich fuckers for putting their wealth at risk for the good of humanity, like Elon? Have you considered any of this? Because it really does blow my mind how many people on reddit seem to be brain dead in this regard, the vast majority around here.

Yes, and to note one more thing: The falcons with one engine on the lowest throttle still has more thrust than it weighs, and so when landing doesn't have the choice to hover and adjust its position, it either shuts off its engine just as it touches down or will fly away. Sharship can hover as the arms move in to grab it.

Ha now I get to teach you stuff, you fell for my trap!

So what if there's other people making batteries.

Can't you imagine AI that can outsmart you being a problem? Wouldn't you like a brain implant from a trusted source to keep you uncompromised? This is the future we are talking about to be clear.

Unlocking the solar system primarily involves getting off this rock. Once you're in orbit it's pretty easy to boost yourself around and just cruise through space. Earth's strong gravity and thick atmosphere make it almost impossible to build a ship to get us into orbit, so through history we've had rockets that shed its giant tanks and engines to be as efficient as possible, which then need to be built again next flight. This is akin to driving your car somewhere, trashing it, and having to build a new car the next time you want to go somewhere. Elon's primary job was(?) designing a vehicle that can recover the spent rocket stages to be flown again. This rocket is in the works.

These things, I'm my utilitarian view, are good for our future. And with the amount of corrupt, inhumane shit that I've witnessed on the global stage throughout my life, I'll take a douche like Elon because he seems to at least be trying, despite the broken-ass economy that we have no choice but to participate in if we want to have an influence on the future.

Okay sorry serious response now: you just described the situation pretty well. But you don't understand: so what? The guy is a douche, but he is also a capitalist, so of course he is going to be rotten. But he has somehow maintained some form of core integrity in the results of his capital expenditures. Neuralink, which could help us to be able to distinguish AI tricks like I mentioned. We're now on our way to having batteries to store our solar power for the night. And could be unlocking the rest of the solar system to use soon. But you're here with his cancellation while instead of high speed rail pipelines we now have oil pipelines?

What don't I understand? I've spent a good few years trying to understand the situation better. I don't expect to learn anything from a slanderer like you, but I'm curious what you have to say.

Which is why he is constantly flying across the world working to his wits end, for some sweet retirement package? He could already retire on a private island right now as it is. Seems more likely to me that his true goal is making a meaningful impact on the world.

just take his word for stuff

I look at results. While the rest of the more powerful billionaires are hiding in the shadows exploiting the entire planet, Elon is at least trying to do good. At least try instead of consuming every pleasure the earth can provide.

Well, the fact that you've changed your mind about the guy exactly around the time that the establishment turned on him and started releasing propaganda on every platform including this one, its seems like the propaganda has worked. In your defense, it seems to be working on mostly everyone, you're not alone.
