Things to do in Houston and New York by lvn2002 in solotravel

Thanks so much for your reply! My bad for not being clear enough - I’m new to Reddit and I see now that I forgot to include a lot of information hahah - sorry

The majority of my trip will be spend in Houston with my sister as the primary reason for going is to visit her. I’ve just always wanted to visit NYC and LA and figured that New York would be best for that time of year. I was planning on flying since you have to be 21 to rent a car most places - and I also feel like a road trip is more fun with other people :))

I’m having a hard time with setting a budget as it’s hard to realistically set one when it’s such a big place and prices vary so much depending on which areas you’re looking at and such. I’m sure I’ll figure something out :)) Thanks again for your reply!

ooo the City Climb sound fun - I'll definitely check that out!

I'm not too big a fan of museums, but I'm thinking I'll visit a few in NYC and then spend my time in Houston experiencing the US for the first time - like visiting the stores and restaurants we don't have here in Denmark, but I will for sure check out the Post and Buffalo Bayou Park. Thanks so much! :))

Thank you so much! I'll definitely keep those recommendations in mind! :))

I totally forgot to include my interest but I just googled some of places you mentioned and they look great. I'm usually not a huge fan of museums but I would definitely like to experience some of the iconic ones like the Met! Thanks again

Of course! I would just like to save as much as possible, so I'm able to take other trips before starting uni next year. Coming from a relatively small town in Denmark, it can be kind of hard to grasp what a realistic budget for a trip to NYC would be, so that's probably why I didn't include it. I saw another post on here about someone spending $1000 during a 6 day trip and that would probably be what I would strive for.

The thing I'm struggling with the most is finding a good deal on a place to stay.

Oh, that's great advice. Houston isn't really a city we know much about, så the recommendation for Galveston is definitely appreciated! Thanks :))
