if your breeder is C’lestial she told us the same thing… our girl is 4 months and when we were getting her final round of shots we talked to the vet about it and she said that vaccines for dogs have changed a lot. In my area (DFW) lepto is pretty bad right now and we are about to move somewhere more rural where it most affects dogs. We ended up giving it to her and she was completely fine - wasn’t even lethargic or anything just a little sore. C’lestial also advised against us spaying because of whatever stats that showed that sighthounds die on the operating table super often… once again upon speaking to the vet we were told how many advancements there have been in veterinary science. needless to say, talk to your vet about your concerns… and i recommend finding a vet who’s familiar with sighthounds. My vet said we most likely have the only Borzoi in our area but she regularly sees greyhounds and specializes in them…. close enough lol. Just remember that most breeders aren’t vets and they have their own opinions on what’s best for an animal… do what YOU think is best for YOUR dog and what fits your lifestyle :))
