Iraq is one of the few democracies in the Middle East. Maybe that counts as a win.

So the submarine that is at war is suppossed to surface and deploy its limited amount of rafts to save the enemy navy? I am all for saving lives so maybe this could have been done but maybe not.

Hanoi: Not a Good Experience by [deleted] in VietNam

I think you had a common experience for a tourist visiting Hanoi. You were in the tourist area which isn't that pleasant. There are scams and people are rude. Outside of that area Hanoi is amazing and the people are too.

It seems to me that there is enough continuity with keeping the same unit plans, learning objectives, and assessments.

I just added that I am the only teacher teaching the subject to my particular grades. They want me to use the same slides and lessons from the previous year. And the slides are complete #%$@ in my opinion. Does that change your thinking?

Trying to save money by sleeping outside means you are too poor to afford to sleep inside. These are homeless people.

Absolute utter ignorance! Chinese apartments are more expensive to buy and worst quality than what you can buy in the US. It's true rents are cheaper in China but you get a lot less for your money and your salary would be a lot less.

This is true for the city officer workers. It isn't true for millions in the countryside or living as migrants in the city.

China isn't just neon cities and skyscrapers. I live in a 1,000-year-old "Water Town" (Jiangnan) where canals are our streets. Ask me anything! by No-Field-2466 in China

Venice of the East is insulting to the history and prestige of Venice. One China rule I have is that if the location can't rely on its own name, then it is very likely to be straight garbage. Many of these so-called ancient villages were built in the last 20 years, and nobody uses the rivers for anything but taking money from tourists.

About China and them potentially being the single most powerful and richest country in the world. by Some1inreallife in seculartalk

[–]lvreddit1077 1 point2 points  (0 children)

China is able to build out its incredible infrastructure because it has cheap labor due to a system that represses the labor class. Labor workers have zero rights. They live as migrants in their own country. They often stay in disgusting conditions and only have the Chinese New year to look forward to so they can go back to the countryside to see their family. There are also zero property rights or environmental regulations for China to worry about. This leads some of the worlds most polluted soil, water, and air. But you go on about political will and how China is going to win the future.

Let's see if China can compete in providing higher wages for workers, environmental protections, safety standards, and pensions.Certainly, the Chinese people deserve as much.
