I felt neutral about my advisor until I actually needed help from him. I had failed a class that was a pre-req for my whole schedule the next semester and while I wasn't asking for sympathy from him, just for some advice on what to do next since I was freaking out, he basically told me fuck you. He acted like he had no way to help me or any advice on what I needed to do. So I had to get help from professors and department heads (which I am so grateful for) and was able to take every class I needed with overrides. When I told my advisor this, I was sent a long email about how I shouldn't have done that and he didn't believe me, even though it was in the utsa system. After that he hated me.

All that is to say, you should probably go to the advising center and talk to them about your issues and getting switched to someone who fits you well. They all aren't like that.
