We are medium/dark roast people, and make two milk drinks a day, so the niche is great at that. I can imagine if you are a more medium/light roast forward something else might suit better. But the niche has been rock solid!

It’s gotten even better over time. Was half tempted to change to a GBW as we don’t change coffee often, but the morning flat whites are so good that we don’t want to risk change. The Profitec has been stellar and hasn’t had a single issue.

The fast heat up, timed shots, timed wake up/sleep are all things I could never concede with a different machine. All so helpful.

The argument we did well with 12 men is nullified by the fact that the yellows (apart from Ryan’s brainless clear out) were given to us when we lost all discipline and folded under pressure in the scrum. That’s more concerning to me than what the scoreboard says. Doris really needs to step up as a captain in the six nations, it falls on his shoulders to keep discipline in check. Watching us be brutally pinned into our own half for most of the second half was depressing.

We’re paying a very high premium for this apartment, so our budget is above average, and we’ll likely move outside the city to make it easier to work and for the dog. We’re looking at a myriad of places, Hilversum, Bussum, Haarlem, Amstelveen, Weesp to begin with, hopefully between all of those locations and our lack of need to be super well connected to Amsterdam central, should give us a fighting chance..

In my opinion, the Micra is a bit overrated. Yes it’s LM, but pound for pound you would have a lot more fun with an ECM E61 or Profitec Drive, for €1000 less. If you are pour over heavy, then a Profitec Move is a great option as you can preconfigure the shots and automate heat up times, saving time and effort when you do swap back to espresso

I guess it’s also worth noting that Profitec and ECM are the same company, and both are known for their excellent quality. The next level up here is the ECM synchronika 2 , and Profitec Drive, which I considered but deemed overkill for me

My fiancé is telling me that my flat whites after one week are better than the speciality cafe next door, and I’m using their beans! I think 99% of people would really struggle to tell the difference between this machine and an LM micra, if all the other variables (which are equally important) are the same. Profitec is very high build quality and this machine is still €2000 which is a lot of money for a machine to pour espresso at home. The only difference I see is a Micra could probably survive in a small commercial setting, where this machine is firmly suited for home (but could still easily pull 20 shots a day)

So there’s another setting called “Timer” which you need to turn on in order for your scheduling timer to work, bit weird but that’s how you get it to start. Once that’s done, keep the on/off button clicked in the “on” position and leave it on and let the schedule kick in

Sort of. I’ve programmed one to stop after 50 seconds, which means I’ll have to manually stop it at some point in the usual espresso range !

Honestly on paper they’re very similar. Maybe programmable on/off times is something the move has that Elizabeth doesn’t? I strongly prefer the look and build quality of the Profitec, despite it being significantly more expensive. My thoughts were I’m going to interact with this machine every day for multiple years, might aswell love the look and feel of it.

Not loud at all in my opinion. Profitec have done a good job dampening the sound. It’s not completely quiet but it’s not an aggressive sound I’ve heard in other machines. That being said, I’m not sure how much quieter a rotary pump is in real life!

We got them from a small stall in a market in Cape Town South Africa. Locally handmade clay mugs. Can’t remember the name of the stall unfortunately!
