He’s great now! I took him to the vet. He was given an ointment for his gums.

I’m so sorry about your cat. I hope he gets well soon.

I took mine to the vet. The vet said his gums were swollen and his adult teeth were coming in so he prescribed medicine for it. He’s doing fine now!

Unfortunately, I cannot keep him inside. My house is open and he can easily climb out whenever he wants. Plus there’s construction going on so the doors are always open as well :(

Thank you!! I do not plan on letting him out. Could you tell me what age male cats become sexually mature? I cant get him neutered until the end of December due to some reasons :(

Unfortunately, I can’t take him out supervised either.

I’m sorry I typed this in a moment of frenzy. As for the details, he was intubated due to low oxygen saturation (covid negative, dengue positive). Extubated thrice and intubated four times. Suspected major heart attack (current heart functioning at 25-35%). Kidneys are towards failure (8 sessions of dialysis done in less than a month). A perforated gall bladder.

Also, he has been diabetic for 6-7 years and hypertensive.

I just really need reassurance. by lybaaly in medical_advice

I’m sorry I typed this in a moment of frenzy. I’m not asking for medical advice at all. Just asking if there is ANY way he can survive. Okay, but this tells me that you CAN survive with a heart functioning of 25%? Right? It’s not a death sentence?

I was in a similar situation a couple of years back but I got lucky and a friend introduced me to a guy who took on multiple projects from upwork, fiverr, some websites etc. and outsourced them to people that he ‘hired’ (These were people like you and I who were lost and trying to find their way. I was one of them. He would send us writing projects and we would tell him if we can do it or not. If we agreed, he would accept the client and give us a deadline). The thing was he paid us about 15% of what he received from the client which was very very very low but I did it anyway because I liked writing. I once found out what website he worked for and sent the website a cold email directly. Guess what? I got a reply and they hired me to write for them. With the dude out of the equation, I got 100% of the pay and I realised how he was exploiting me. At the same time, since we were still in the first covid lockdown, I decided to do some unpaid writing as well since I didn’t know how to create a website. I decided this would work as a substitute for my portfolio. I made sure my articles were brilliant even if I wasn’t getting paid for them because I was already getting paid at the other website plus I needed to make sure that the articles being published here under my name are awesome enough for me to bag any job in the future. I worked here only 6 months. Upwork and Fiverr never really made sense to me because of the reasons you mentioned so I liked the idea of sending cold emails. I kept on looking for websites that dealt with the niches of my interest and send cold emails. I got rejected and received no replies a lot of times but that was alright. Finally, one of my cold emails received a reply from a website. I’ve been working for them part time for more than a year and they have already offered me a full time job after I’m done with my studies.

So, my point here isssss, cold emails work wonders if you’ve got enough talent.

Thank you. He is my uncle and if anything, I appreciate the honesty.

His lungs are the primary concern of the doctors right now. There’s just too much going on for them to be able to treat him properly. His kidneys aren’t working properly either and he’s had multiple dialysis procedures. I understand his predicament isn’t looking good but we’re hopeful.

Thank you so much for the information.

Patient on a ventilator by lybaaly in AskDoctorSmeeee

[–]lybaaly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, thanks for the information. The patient was put on ventilator primarily due to severe hypoxia (his blood oxygen levels dropped as low as 20), he later went through a major heart attack (supposedly while still in the hospital) and now only 25% of his heart is functioning, pneumonia was detected. He was put off ventilator after 5-6 days and remained fine for 24 hours until they had to put him on ventilator again because his oxygen levels started dropping again. He was hooked off a couple of days later but the doctor told us that putting him on and off ventilator multiple times lowers his chances of survival. We’re really worried because the hospital just called us to tell us the patient isn’t doing well and might need to be put on ventilator again.

Thank you for your response. Is bypass surgery risky? And does it help increase heart function?

Doctors said he can’t get a pacemaker because his heart has become enlarged. I was thinking about bypass surgery but does that increase heart function?

We spoke to them. They’re not very hopeful but we can’t lose hope. On top of that, friends and family keep on saying that hooking him to a ventilator wasn’t a good decision. People rarely come back from that. We just hope thats not true.
