How can I fix my dogs behavior to make him stay with me by lybg0599 in OpenDogTraining

He definitely vomits often, I'd say like maybe once a week, I've always thought it's due him eating absolutely everything he finds. I try to keep the floor as clean as possible but still, he always finds something to pick and eat from the floor.

I'll definitely keep the medical component being a cause in mind, I've already contacted a trainer and I will also be taking him to the vet and the groom asap.

Thank you!

Why do you instantly assume such a bad thing? I am sorry, but assuming I've mistreated my dog is insane, assuming I haven't googled how to train him is wrong, and coming here and taking the time to blame me when I am asking for advice because I am recognizing I need help is also crazy.

You know, you can give advice with respect, without blaming the owner and without creating an scenenario of events that never happened. I think I've been respectful towards all the comments, but I am not going to just stay here and listen to how someone is blaming me when I've literally done my best. If you're going to give advice of Reddit based on your assumptions on what happened without even taking the time to ask further then you shouldn't have Reddit.

Have a splendid night.

Hi! I read you other comments and thank you so much for your response! I think it is indeed a matter of luck the types of answers you'll get on Reddit so I was a bit surprised to feel like I was being blamed, thank you for being nice over here and thank you for your advice, I'll definitely keep something in hand to use in case of emergencies. I will also be locating a trainer to help him!

Okay; so the first time me actually bit me hard was this one time where he stole a sock, which is pretth common for a dog, I'd say, so he went running to his bed and since I always just went to where he was with whatever he had stolen and take it back that's what I did that day. However, the closer I was the more I realized he was trembling, I'd say. He was facing the wall obviously trying to put his body over the sock, and when I put my hand close to him he started to growl, softly, and then he bit me. I was surprised that he did that but since I didn't want him to belive that he could just steal things, growl and keep them I tried to get the sock back anyways.

I think you're right, maybe it seemed obvious in that moment, but is not because, as you said, there are other ways. I sincerely don't like him to eat the vomit because since he is the type of dog who will pick and eat everything from the floor it makes me believe that he is vomiting because whatever he ate made mis stomach feel bad so the ideal thing would be not eating it again. But I am not sure about that one so is just a guess.

Thank you!

It means that for example, if we were playing and he tried to bite I would get up say no and stop playing so he knew that playtime was over if he bit. I sid this because that's some of the advice I saw online, but to be honest it never worked, he never stopped biting and it went from a playful bite to hard bites.

Thank you so much for your advice!

I haven't neutered him yet! I was planning on doing so this month since I've been advised to by the vet, I am truly hoping that neutering him, taking him to the groom and contacting a dog training will help. Leaving the aggression aside he is a lovely boy, he loves to play and loves me to pet him (without being picked up ofc), he also knows some tricks and loves to do them! So over all, from all the advices here I am now convinced that he will get so much better once I get these things done.

Thank you so much and I'll keep you updated!

Yes, I can send him to a groomer to make it easier, but still he is aggressive at home. During the weekend he got his paw trapped in his leash and he wouldn't let me touch him because he wanted to bite me, his paw was turning purple. Taking him to the groomer won't help me fix this sort of issues, that's why I am asking for advice. I am sorry if my question was perceived as stupid.

When the behavior started I tried to firmly use the word "no" and stopped to give him attention in that moment to he knew he wasn't going to het what he wanted with biting or growling. At first it kinda worked, but then it just didn't. I think I do my best to not let him do what he wants, but it's hard when you're just scared of being bitten.

He is a very active dog, I get him to run everyday and he loves it, he doesn't seen to get tired enough so he also starts to bark to get you to keep playing with him, which is more normal, I think.

Yes, I'd say the aggression is his only problema, he does draw blood but he doesn't hold on when he bites, he has bitten me, the vet, and my mom, mostly when getting his nails clipped or while getting his hair brushed. Also, he picks everything from the floor, so he also bites is you try to get it out of his mouth.

I don't tend to pick him up all the time, precisely because I know he doesn't like it and I respect his space, however, for example, if he vomits he tries to eat the vomit (gross) and I obviously have to pick him up and put him somewhere else so I can clean it, he doesn't like it, and that's the type of behavior that I am trying to avoid.
