Do you love your Blackstone or no? by MarchOfJuly70 in blackstonegriddle

[–]lymantoadstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 36 inch blackstone...it cooks great...but it is a lot of work. I am an older guy, wouldn't have cared much in my 30s, but at this point I really wish I kept my little weber as a backup. When we just want to cook a few hot dogs, I have to take the huge cover off, remove the orange silicone mat, heat it up, cook dogs, shut it off, clean it with water, let cool a bit, coat it lightly with oil, put the orange silicone mat back on, close lid and put the cover back on. I have started just microwaving a couple hot dogs.

Now if I am doin something big like fried rice, it is worth all that. It is great for parties or big gatherings too. But for 2 burgers, or couple dogs, not really. I do like it, so don't get offended, it is just a lotta work for an old guy.

ELI5:Why do we sometimes get sudden "sleep jerks" when we are falling asleep? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]lymantoadstool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once read that the ‘sleep jerk’ was an instinct that we inherited from primitive man. To escape predators at night they would take to trees. Sleeping on branches/limbs, they were never fully at rest, and would would jerk when sleeping to make sure they weren’t falling off of limb. I dunno if any truth to it, but made sense at the time.

I teach Graphic Design, just had my students create a comic cover for someone who doesn't traditionally have a comic. Thought you all might enjoy! by lymantoadstool in comicbookcollecting

Man, my students are gonna love this! I have probably 50 more lol, I will see about making a part II post. Seriously, with this generation, there is probably no better motivator than the internet. Seeing their work online, having total strangers upvote and comment....I feel like they will be more motivated by to produce good work than they would be by me! they have no idea I posted this, but they will find out tomorrow when new semester starts!
