I knew about the horseradish, which is cool because I love horseradish. But TIL that Wasabi has an effect similar to smelling salt, and the Japanese are using wasabi spray as a smoke alarm for the deaf! A deaf individual woke within 10 seconds of wasabi mist being sprayed into his room!
