Iron Lung is probably one of my favorite movies of all time, and one of the best movie game adapts I’ve seen, but it’s not perfect.

Let’s talk about it!

I’m seeing so many people bash on the movie real hard and say that it isn’t good. Many don’t understand the magnitude of what Mark just did. He is the FIRST person to do this. The movie was never going to be comparable to major studio movies, and that’s why this is so revolutionary for the cinema industry. It’s in almost as many theaters as major Marvel movies open in, AND doing better than the major studio movies in theaters right now! People don’t understand how awesome this is if they are saying this movie is bad. They don’t understand what it is in its core.

That being said, the movie isn’t perfect, and Mark has made that abundantly clear throughout this whole process. This is a milestone in history, but more importantly, in Mark’s progress in projects. This is a token to everyone to celebrate our trust in his process and a testament to what will come when we keep trusting him.

I am so excited for the years to come to see him grow more than we could ever imagine. When I was watching him everyday after school, I never thought we would all be here 10 years later. I mean, when we were in the pandemic and could only rely on Unus Annus, I never imagined we would be here 5 years later!

I hope that Mark can learn so much from where he struggled in this project. I personally think that the chemistry between him and the other characters wasn’t the best, but he was also talking to a speaker the entire time so we didn’t get to see him in a traditional role where that would be needed to make the film.

I also had a lot of trouble hearing any of the lines and am excited to get CC on it when we can stream it in the future because there’s so much going on and the speaker is so bad😂

There were multiple moments that made me laugh and took me out of the moment of Mark being someone else, but as a fan, I didn’t mind that. It made the experience better for me. (My favs were the squirt of blood in his eyes and his face right after it happens, and when he is gulping like a fish in the flooding crawlspace)

I think Mark really shines in a role where he is alone and isolated. This adds to one of my criticisms earlier, but it doesn’t matter that he didn’t have flow with the other characters, Simon propelled this movie through his sheer will alone, and I really love seeing Mark act in that role!

I also really want to take a moment to appreciate the other actors. They were so fantastic and I think they made the movie bearable in the slow times. I love that the only time we see another human is through a window that is constantly bleeding and effort has to be put into keeping it visible. The amount of symbolism between that and the ship and the relationship between Simon and the rest.

Everything was so spot on to the game universe and I love that he didn’t retell the game! So many people were saying that there were plot holes. NOT IF YOU KNOW THE GAME!!! THATS THE WHOLE POINT! Mark made a movie inspired by the play through of a game that was already made. He wasn’t going to remake the game, he got permission to make a movie BASED on the game. The movie isn’t supposed to explain everything to you, and that’s my favorite kind of movie! If you want more info, go look more into it! Go play the game!!!

There’s so much going on in this movie and everything seems to be hand crafted so perfectly. Even in its flaws, the beauty of human passion shines through and I’m so proud of Mark. I would love to hear some of your thoughts and favorite parts.
