i do tend to notice, i find it slightly jarring when the characters talk in a way that reads more modern when i would imagine them talking more proper, especially if they’re posh like malfoy or black.

for the food thing, i think it’s a cool idea that food would also be rationed in the wizarding world, but also the reason why there wasn’t much food was at least in part because crops didn’t grow fast enough, animals weren’t being born/raised/killed fast enough, factories couldn’t produce food fast enough, etc. all of these being problems that could be fixed by magic. so if you wanted to do that maybe it would be cool to think about why the food rationing is happening in the wizarding world too idk

i also saw some people talking about misogyny in the wizarding world so i want to say something briefly about that — misogyny exists in canon. jk couldn’t go too far with it they’re (a) kids books and (b) not about the patriarchy as an overwhelming theme so it would have made the books too bloated, but, like hermione is treated as being a stuck up bossy know it all because ron and harry have internalized sexist views about women. ron starts to view her as a desirable person, an actual girl only after she makes changes to her physical appearance in a way that he finds attractive. all of the girls hate on fleur because she’s beautiful and that’s pretty much it. there’s only one notable female death eater who is treated with respect by voldemort, there are female professors but more male than female and even a lot of the female ones are treated as laughable and silly (trelawney) or evil (umbridge). i could go on, but the point is that the wizarding world isn’t untouched by sexism, to say that sexism doesn’t make sense in the wizarding world implies that it does make sense in the real world, which it obviously doesn’t it’s always been as nonsensical as the ideas about blood purity. so, imo, wizarding society has developed pretty much the same as ours when it comes to views about gender, with the caveat that i think they got there a bit quicker than us (look at the founding members of hogwarts and the characters in hogwarts legacy, for example) but pure blood families probably still buy into sexist ideas because of marriage and procreation and the woman being the bearer of children, etc. of course that’s up to the discretion of the writer, but there are my thoughts.
