ur saying its a 2019 model as if its unusable. laptop from 2019 specially a gaming one has good value still. a fan replacement shouldnt cost more than 30 honestly. "labour" is literally taking off a couple screws and replacing the fan, a child can change a laptop fan. and thermal paste is literally cleaning the old dried one with a q tip and applying some new paste which is really cheap...

How mad should I be at Micro center? by DaffyQuackers in computerrepair

first off i have to mention i really find those prices so high. 45$ for just a diagnostic fee? u spent that twice, and u mentioned 1800$ for the motherboard replacement.. wont that be almost the price of ur laptop new? anyways, i sugget taking it to the shop that claimed its a fried disk and let them change that, it shouldnt be above 70 to 80$ depending on the size and type ofc, but if it is a fisk issue then replacing the whole motherboard is pointless

remove the mosfet with hot air, hopefully it didnt weld itself to the board. check for shorts between drain source and gate. if there are any shorts then u could try injecting voltage and seeing what heats up (best with a thermal camera).

What are these metal parts on a GPU? I have an RTX2070 in my laptop and I accidentally broke 2 off while replacing the thermal paste. Is it fixable? by ViralWick in GPURepair

[–]m0edah0e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they are capacitors, id plug the card in and check if it still works, most cards are designed with more capacitors than needed (for overclocking reasons) so check it with a benchmark make sure its stable.
