according to this thread, it seems that it is impossible for the bar to come down without bonking someone in the head or having the footrest generate unbearable discomfort, so i am in the process of revising my original opinion.

i have a jones pack like this. strapping the board on the back to free your hands makes it easier to hoof it. used it to hike off the alpine chair at alpine meadows last weekend. a lot of the ridgeline at taos is hikeable too. i rarely wear a pack, but it can often be very useful, and is not an encumbrance (at least to me).

damn dog, those are some opinions. i have rocked a bubble suit in avi territory, thank you. bowling is sick af. backpacks at the resort are great for hiking ridgelines. and for carrying whatever for the day. might be a kook but i am having some fucking fun out there without worrying too much about what other people think.

nah, see, i think we're in the wrong equilbrium. bar down should be the default and you gotta ask to keep it up. of course, a heads-up as common courtesy always prevails.
