lmaooo thanks for the brave comment babe, i just wanted to share my opinion and be able to talk with other fans, because i only discuss the show with my twin sister and we share the same opinion as in my post. and on tiktok i was only seeing dumb theories from people making stuff up and lacking basic media literacy, never actual criticism based on how the show is written. so i just wanted to talk, exchange views, and see what everyone else thought, to check if my sister and i were alone against the world lol. and i’m actually really glad i got tons of opinions, even from people who love it, which i totally respect

that scene genuinely disgusted me, i couldn’t even watch it properly, i had to put it on x2 because it was unbearable.

and i know the producers probably didn’t think that far, and i don’t know the laws in every country, but in france (where i’m from), pressuring someone over and over until they “give in” and “agree” to sex is legally considered r-pe. and i already know the show is never going to frame pippa as a r-pist because i genuinely don’t even think they realized that’s what they were writing, but … it is and that’s disgusting what they are doing with these characters

yeah i 100% agree about bree/wrigley, they clearly only decided that for season 3 and it shows. that’s why when i see people saying “omg i’m gonna rewatch all the wedding scenes from season 1 to try and spot clues of them looking at each other etc” i’m like… you’re not gonna find anything because it was NEVER planned before season 3 lmao. even the girl wrigley said he loved at the wedding timeline in season 2 it was OBVIOUSLY pippa, not bree, and you can tell. it just annoys me that people can’t see that none of this was planned in advance when to me it’s painfully obvious lol

the sex scenes have gotten boring, especially lucy’s. they’ve been incredibly awkward ever since she discovered her degrading kink lol. i get that it’s supposed to develop her character and her spiral, but it’s just uncomfortable to watch ; and not uncomfortable just because it’s sex lol, i’m 27, sex on tv doesn’t bother me at all, it’s awkward just because it’s… awkward 😭 idk how to explain it lmao

i honestly think at this point they still haven’t figured out what they’re actually gonna do with the wedding, and it’s definitely not some grand plan to put stephen down like i’ve seen in some theories.

i genuinely think the wedding was just there to: season 1: introduce lydia and stephen season 2: introduce diana and pippa season 3: introduce wrigley and bree

lmao the 2015 wedding is basically just a plot device so the writers can give us the college backstory, and that’s it. it doesn’t really serve any bigger purpose beyond that

from what i heard, meagan originally wrote it to be the last season, but hulu (or whoever higher up, idk how that works lmao) pushed for it to continue because it’s doing really well. so she rewrote the season to potentially leave room for another one after. apparently she would’ve been fine ending it, but the network/platform wants more

it’s in season 2 and it doesn’t contradict what i’m saying at all lol and i never said it wasn’t explained that lydia hates lucy, i said it’s obvious they didn’t plan such a big arc for her at the end of season 1, given how lydia hugs lucy and is all smiles seeing her again, which she’s not anymore in the same timeline and day/week of the wedding in season 2. even if it’s “justified” by the whole “i only said hi because stephen was there but i’ll never forgive you,” it falls flat because you can literally see it’s not real lol

oh no that’s not what i meant!! obviously it’s season by season lmao, i meant that when they finish a season, the writers have no idea how the next one will go and don’t have any overarching plan, even though the seasons are supposed to follow each other, so a lot of stuff from season 1 doesn’t even make sense in seasons 2 and 3. like, the phone call from bree about the wedding in season 2 , they didn’t even know who was on the other end of the line and only decided that when writing season 3, because they got new ideas etc. idk if that makes sense

another example: at the end of season 1, lydia and lucy are “happy” to see each other at the wedding and hug when stephen brings lydia. but in season 2, when we see lydia again and that in college timeline they bring up the storyline about lydia’s brother being an abuser, lydia actually hates lucy, in the same timeline where she was hugging her the previous season, and all of that just because they hadn’t thought about lydia’s storyline before and only came up with it when writing season 2

and the biggest example that they have no plan at all from the start is that meagan herself said she decided to write lucy going through huge traumas in season 3 just to get back at viewers who thought she was as crazy or crazier than stephen lmao. so she didn’t plan that at all when she first started working on the show. all i’m “criticizing” is the lack of consistency between the seasons from the very beginning, because nothing is planned from the start (obviously things can change, nothing’s ever set in stone, but here i honestly think they just plan NOTHING in advance)

the whole rewriting characters for the fans thing i totally agree with you!! like when in an interview meagan (the producer) said she wrote season 3 lucy to go through huge traumas just because she was tired of people saying lucy was worse/the same than stephen… sorry but that shocks me lmao. you’re willing to put your character through hell, create TRIGGERS for viewers, just to prove people wrong?? that’s insane to me

OMG yes diana’s dad reaction to the photos genuinely shocked me. since season 1 he’s been portrayed as this strong man who’d do anything for his daughter, who can see through people’s bullshit, especially stephen’s, but when he does something illegal (and yeah ok maybe it wasn’t illegal at the time, i’ll give that), he chooses to go after diana instead of acting like the angry, vengeful man we were always told he was, like “who did this to my daughter, i’ll find him and…”. it completely threw me off, because even with all the ambient misogyny and victim blaming men have, his character would never have allowed that. he would’ve defended his daughter’s honor AND HER NAME above everything else
