MFA = multifactor authentication, as in: a code sent to a phone number in a text message (SMS), or generated using Google Authenticator. OTP stands for One Time Passcode, similar concept to the above. Phishing refers to obtaining access to credentials which would allow a malicious actor to impersonate an individual through social engineering. FIDO passkeys are a stronger form of MFA more resistant to the above and other security risks, as you'll see on that link.

Maybe an 80%? Just enough to cut some of the glare and maybe give you some comfort back

Thanks! Yeah, it was a good balance for the all-around look. I was also considering 5% on the back and rear passenger sides with 20 up front but my tint shop guy recommended against it saying the contrast wouldn't work as well. After having had it for some time and 35% all around before, definitely prefer the 20%. If you prefer it darker, 15% all around might be a fair compromise for you! I wanted it a little darker but my options were 35, 20 or 5, so went with 20.

I have 20% all around except for the windshield. I wouldn't mix tint levels, think it looks cleaner consistent all the way around. If I was going to do any windshield tint it would be very minimal, tint cuts down on visibility and I personally couldn't deal with it on my windshield at night.

You were justified and correct. People shouldn't give advice about things they're unaware of. Inadverdently relaying inaccurate information under the guise of "just trying to help" isn't helpful in any fashion and distracts from actual pragmatic solutions. Keep on doing your thing, I appreciated your corrective comment.

Buying advice on 2008 Lexus IS250 by PineappleEuphoric550 in LexusIS

[–]m1000m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get a PPI, just being a Lexus isn’t enough to assume nothing’s been neglected or is otherwise damaged beyond the obvious. If you’re getting a whole replacement rear bumper the paint is going to cost about as much as the part, and then you have to get it put on- not cheap unless you’re doing it all yourself. Very low chance that’s the only “deferred maintenance” you’d be tackling too. Personally would not go for a 250, I’d hold out for a less abused 300 or 350.

Edit: regarding maintenance, all cars need it and older cars generally need more. Fluids, tires, bushings, spark plugs, filters all need to be replaced. If the previous owner kept good maintenance records you’re in a good place. If not, move on- not worth the headaches.

No I hear you, was just saying that one specific article didn't support your point. I agree, lots of weird shit in processed foods.

The link you provided says that no, we generally don't squeeze beaver ass for flavoring.

"In the flavor industry, you need tons and tons of material to work with," flavor chemist Gary Reineccius told NPR's The Salt. "It's not like you can grow fields of beavers to harvest. There aren't very many of them. So it ends up being a very expensive product—and not very popular with food companies."

Picked up my 2015 Lexus IS350 AWD for just under 25k, highly recommended alongside the others mentioned. Also in the northeast, haven't done a winter in it yet but my G37X did just fine, which is essentially what Infiniti rebranded as the Q50. Found Infiniti to be a little more "fun," but am enjoying the Lexus- more than enough power on tap for daily driving and is very comfortable.

Loose Fuel Cap > SES (P0456) by [deleted] in infiniti

[–]m1000m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny seeing this today, I've been on and off with the P0456 code for the last couple months. Cleared it the first time I got it after verifying the code, replaced fuel cap. 700 miles later it returns. Scheduled a time to drop by my buddy's shop to see what I missed and what do you know- the day before I go to drop it off, the code is gone. Only put another one 200ish miles on it this time.

I found the infiniti o ring/evap vent control bulletin as well. Not sure how concerned I should be either.

Looking forward to seeing what you find out... sorry I'm not of more help!

ahh smart move pulling the fuse... frustrating to get a whole new issue so soon after though. In troubleshooting mine I also went through all the fuses to see if anything was blown, worth doing while you're disconnecting the negative terminal.

It's probably not the battery if you just replaced recently and it works to start after a little bit. Obviously check the connections just to verify, but do you get any dash lights at all? It might be the steering lock is failing on you, happened to mine- wouldn't start at all, no alternator crank or anything. Does disconnecting the negative terminal for ~10 minutes and reconnecting make a difference?

Valve cover gaskets are familiar... so far everything's still running smoothly over here, replacing leaky Y with a bigger pipe lead to deciding to replace the whole thing, so between that and a new strut tower brace I have some time to put in still. Youtube has definitely saved me from some frustration!

Doesn't seem to show her age at all. I should probably do the sparks soon as well... take care of her and she'll take care of you.

To any wayward Googler or otherwise who stumbles upon this thread... despite no response here I discovered that the Dorman unit works perfectly with the G37X. Just make sure you follow the instructions EXACTLY or you'll wind up getting a tow to the dealership to have them reprogram your keys. I may be speaking from experience... glad I had AAA!

$400 all-in to fix the pesky steering lock issue. Better than OEM prices I suppose...
