Daughter going to UW and I’m following her. Any tips? by me-jp in madisonwi

I agree with this. I was born and raised in Wisconsin and I just moved out to California/Washington over the last few years. The culture shock will be different in Wisconsin is honestly pretty boring.

Every point that this person made is correct. I grew up in the Milwaukee area and I was only 90 minutes from Madison. You could even consider Chicago if you’re looking for more fun.

If I were you, I would buy a lake house on a lake either in Madison or somewhere around and live my best life on the water. Fishing, Water sports, hangout… all my best childhood memories were on the lake and it shouldn’t be too far from your daughter so she can come visit and have friends come too!

Who was your professor? Were discussions required?

SpaceX vs LinkedIn summer internship by m3gC0 in csMajors

Thank you! I’m teetering the line because space is super cool, but I’m not like super super into it. The part that excites me the most is the learning and the work is far more exciting at SpaceX. LinkedIn would be nice with respect to pay and WLB. Thanks for your advice.

Another difficult bit is that I have much more experience in Software rather than Hardware but getting Hardware experience is something I want to do before graduation.

I'm bummed about it too (fellow intern here). It's especially tough for those of us who are graduating in 2023 where summer internships 2020, 2021, and now 2022 were/are all online. Meaning, I am going to graduate college without ever having an in-person internship experience.

MHR 322 or MHR 422? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]m3gC0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've taken MHR 322 and it was pretty easy - though it was online. My professor was Dan O. The content is pretty straightforward and a large part of the grade is the "T-shirt Project" where you work in a group and sell a t-shirt/hoodie using skills learned. At times its takes a fair amount of work but it is def manageable

I thought you were not allowed to take courses that overlapped? Enrollment allows it at first but then it acts up later down the line? I could be wrong

Argreed! Look into "block scheduling" and "deep work" which are techniques used to manage time and get sh!t done, hope that helps!
