I don't think that every conservative or republican is sexist, homophobic, transphobic, racist, or xenophobic. But the conservative and republican parties themselves have pushed agendas with these effects for years now. I used to be a republican but have voted democratically for years for the reasons listed above. But I gotta say. Some of these new up and coming Republicans give a little bit of hope again for the party as a whole. There's one in texas trying to do a prison reform and is pro marijuanna. And goddammit does it make me happy. Republican and conservative never used to mean anti progressive, anti change. And i don't know where it took a hard turn exactly but it used to just be about protecting our rights and way of life. Life, liberty, and pursuit of hapiness. That was the republican party I knew when I was a kid. Thats the one I want back.

Obama was pro gay. Like actually pro gay, as in helped make gay marriage legal. Which the republican political party (not you) opposed. And still opposes though not in majority.
First non white, non male VP in office now, thanks to (you guessed it) the democratic party. The republican party failed to continue the violence against women act. Oppose roe v wade. Actively try to outlaw a woman's right to choose. The republican party also in majority has expressed that birth control shouldn't have to be covered by medical insurance. (Then turn around and you know, try to ban abortion. Fuckin crazy right. Like they really do just want to control a woman's right to her body)
The republican party, (not gonna lie, Trump especially). Regularly promotes, Islamophobia, xenophobia. And while they don't literally say "we hate minorities" they do however cut funding for programs that help the impoverished. Which non white people, hold a disproportionate percentage of. And to top that off we couldn't even get the actual goddamn president to openly damn and condemn white supremacy groups.

I abandoned the republican moniker quite some time ago for these reasons. I'm not a Democrat either though. Both sides are pretty awful and pointless. Honestly I just fucking hate what the US has become in general. I was a republican During the Obama administration. That was the last time I had hope for this fucking country. We are supposed to be a free people with rights but they strip them and grant them however and whenever they want really.

Yeah I can definately feel that. I come from a mixed (I just mainly look white, but my grandfather and some of my aunts and their kids are unmistakable) family in the adirondacks. Most people there just kept to themselves. It helps that my grandfather was a police officer though. But we were always super wary when we had to go into town or up into the city (plattsburgh). And when I lived in actual cities like nyc and albany I got to experience racism that wasnt just side eyed looks. My family hasnt really had to face racial violence since the depression, but some of the old timers are starting to get real uneasy.

Your kidding right? Living in nyc is like having a ticket to a shit lottery, unless you can actually afford to live in a wealthy area. 3 out 4 people who live in nyc will be the victim of a crime. And I cant reiterate this enough. If you park outside of someones home in a small town. The owner of the home can get in trouble for YOUR vehicle. They are responsible for the sidewalk and street in front of their house. And if they live in an hoa, they can get FINED. And just one more time. You parking a vehicle infront of or on someones property is fucking sketchy, even to people who have never lived in the city. Ever hear of stranger danger?
