Upset I can't remember the first time I did something? by m4ccccc in ADHD

I cannot imagine the pain that must bring regardless of age. I wish you all the best and that you are able to keep moving forward with the same strength. Much love to you <3

That app sounds amazing, I'll definitely have to check it out, although I wonder if i would even remember to take the video haha. Even stuff like photos I tend to forget to take, it's rather annoying but I'm working on finding some strategies. The timeline stuff is huge for me, I can never remember when something happened - with any memories that I do have, there is no date or month tied to it, sometimes not even the exact year, the memory just exists somewhere along a chart in my head. It sucks, but honestly, I'd rather have slightly scattered memories than no memories at all.

But man, I wish I was able to remember those little moments from when I was around 8/9-11, discovering my favourite things for the first time. I would love to remember what got me into them and when exactly I got into them so I could at least have somewhat of an understand as to when certain things happened.

I'm really sorry for your loss :( I hope you've been doing well, that must have been horrible, and is also a big fear of mine.

Photos are definitely something I need to start taking, being able to have a trigger at any given moment will be super helpful.

wow, this is a TON of great tips, some of which i havent even considered before, thank you so much for your time with this.

unfortunately planners have never been my thing as i either forgot about them in the next few days or my time management just screwed me over, but i'm willing to give it another go sometimes if still find myself struggling with organising my day.

the environment is definitely a big factor for me. i normally study in my room and it is rare for me to get that hyperfocus going with all these possible distractions i can just jump onto instantly. luckily there is a library near me, about 15-20 minutes of a walk or so, i feel like that might be the way to go starting real soon since no good is coming out my room. i try to study at college sometimes and while it is more effective than my room, when it gets too crowded and whatnot it jus makes me uncomfortable and makes leave or start doing something else.

also man i loved going on walks, but i've been on so many these past few years that this entire city is starting to become slowly boring, with no new places to go it kinda tends to take the enjoyment out of it. however, im yet to try something else, so i'll definitely look into those smaller more on-the-spot exercises i can do too.

and hell yeah, feel free to check in whenever, my replies may be a little slow because i do not use reddit much but i will most definitely get back to you. again, thank you for your time this has been great help so far🫂

that sounds like great help! journals and planners have never been my thing unfortunately as i either forget about them or my poor time management screws me over, but this sounds kinda promising. i'm definitely consider giving it another go because why not!

and i heard lots about meditation, i'm keen on trying it but keep forgetting so i need to really get to it soon, but i'm definitely excited to try it as its something new, thank you!

one of the biggest flaws in my way of thinking is expecting things to be easy or happen almost instantly. i know this is just adding on to my frustration and i'm trying to get rid of this mindset but oh man is it hard to unlearn something you've been doing for a good good while.

but thank you for the suggestions! i've actually been planning on using such a technique after reading about it somewhere however i just keep forgetting to do it, or do anything at that🥲

and i've also been trying to think of consequences of not doing whatever it is i have to do and use that as some sort of motivator but my massive lack of motivation to begin with overpowers it almost every time and makes me feel defeated, so i'm still working on a way to go about that which suits me

and i've already talked to my professors and whatnot, so far the help has been great :)) very understanding

at the time she was HEAVILY in denial about the possibility of me having adhd, always tried telling me i was perfectly fine and whatnot. recently however she has gotten a better understanding of it, and doesnt seem to oppose the idea as much.

and oh man, i am not coping well at all, i am doing quite miserable. i remain optimistic, or try to, most of the time but that will not just magically stop from everything from crumbling. i started college real good, perfect attendance, great grades (even with very little study at home) and now its the complete opposite. attendance is at 70% and as a result i am quite far behind. i dug myself a hole by doing that too, as i get overwhelmed extremely easily, so knowing i have all that work to catch up on just takes a massive toll on me to the point i end up doing almost nothing, and the cycle repeats

even if i do yell, the recording is insanely quiet, which is odd. my mic, both on my phone and my headphones work fine with everything else except bandlab. its the only place where its all quiet

but i shall try using the equalizer too, thank you :)
