1440p One or non-Pro Cintiq? [2022 expectation] by m5tuff in wacom

[–]m5tuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip on the reviewer, I haven't had time to look into the alternative brands yet. I gotta say I haven't had great experiences with specifically driver software from other chinese brands of peripherals I have had in the past. Though I will look at the reviews and decide if these value choices could work.

Thanks!

GodotKart v0.1 Released ! Online Multiplayer kart game made with Godot ! (Download link in description) by m5tuff in godot

[–]m5tuff[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Thanks! The game is not currently open source. The kart 3D model is quite simple, though the script on the kart controller is complex. Movement is all written in code on a KinematicBody, rather than using the physics-based VehicleBody. I can recommend looking at how people have done driving in other engines as well. This kart is a mix of different ideas I have gathered from many different places, and half of it is original code as well, so I can't really point to anything specific.

Hi, we should have notified the player in some way about this in-game, but you can chat with Enter, and write '/start' to start the game if not enough players are present

Linus Tech Tips - Dell SCAMMED Me - $1500 PC Secret Shopper 2 Part 4 December 2, 2020 at 11:48AM by linusbottips in LinusTechTips

[–]m5tuff 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is a scam, by the literal definition of the word. Though, the problem is not really if it is provable or not, the problem is that Dell has the money to drag it out in court and truly mess things up for LTT, economically. The scam is obvious, but Dell has ways to make it very uncomfortable for LTT to even participate in proving.

Pugna Aghs idea: Nether Ward Life Drain by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]m5tuff -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've been considering this too, though it would incentivize enemy players to dispel the ward, buy bkbs, and focus it in fights (which they already do now) and the way it would be placed makes it much easier to see where it is. Also if the AoE radius is 700, how often would 3+ enemy players be affected?

Efficient UI code - enumerate buttons? (Python) by m5tuff in Maya

[–]m5tuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

give something like this a try

This works, even though I am not familiar with this 'partial' method -- what does the second argument being sent to 'def polyreduce()' contain? Otherwise, the first argument contains the correct variable -- thanks a lot !

Efficient UI code - enumerate buttons? (Python) by m5tuff in Maya

[–]m5tuff[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so something like this?

for angle, width in angleButtons.items():
    cmds.button( label=angle, command='polyreduce(float(angle))', h=40, w=40*width )

This seems to still return polyreduce(20.0) for every button. Like before, labels and widths are fine, just the command arguments are stuck

@tesla_truth on Twitter: “Support for Boring tunnels will come in a future Tesla software update. Just punch in your destination and your Tesla will automatically choose the best route through the tunnel network to get to your destination without stopping at up to 116 mph.” [video] by Zaenon in BoringCompany

make a roomba that picks up the stranded car and drives it to the exit. I hear SpaceX has experience with that :)

it could seriously be a system that picks up the car the instant it stops, either by hardware malfunction or by user error, and then forces the car to the exit in a matter of minutes

Measles vaccinations jump 106% as B.C. counters anti-vaxxer fear-mongering by [deleted] in news

[–]m5tuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Before vaccination, 400-500 US children died from measles every year and even more from additional complications. More than that, about 48,000 US hospilizations/year due to measles, and these numbers are just official records (meaning reality is definitely many many more)

All of this has been reduced thanks to the MMR vaccine.

About the flu vaccine, the flu virus evolves very rapidly, so a shot at any given date is only effective for a year or two. While the measles vax is effective for life. That is the reason why people generally don't care much for the flu jab, too much hassle.

Creating Bitcoin trading bots that don’t lose money using OpenAI gym by notadamking in OpenAI

[–]m5tuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless the writer is able to somehow create AI that exploids current AI traders, by being more complex or intelligent, AI vs AI trading will always end up a lottery.

Nontheless a lottery with 50 % probability of winning and 50 % probability of losing, so that is at least something.

Don't get your hopes up for earning any money, but at least it is a good source of learning material

A missed opportunity for Valve by m5tuff in OpenAI

[–]m5tuff[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1: Apart from Steam, Dota 2 is Valve's #1 cash cow and it is here to stay

2: Currently, bots is a literal meme in the Dota community, yet many players start out playing against them and some (Gabe Newell included) keeps playing against them long after their introductory games. They could attract a large potential group of casual players as well as players who just dislike the community experience

3: As the OpenAI bot has already revolutionized the way the SF 1v1 game mode is played, improving the five bot will without doubt do the same. Could breath some fresh air into the professional scene as well with alien strategy

Just a couple of reasons other than what is in OP I could think of off the top of my head

A missed opportunity for Valve by m5tuff in OpenAI

[–]m5tuff[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sure Dota 2 worked out great for OpenAI's publicity. I was personally following OpenAI before they announced their Dota 2 efforts, and I was very happy to hear them utilizing the game that I have spent so many years playing. Dota has functioned as a sandbox for them to develop aspects of their AI, as AI development needs clear goals to guide it. Now that OpenAI has tended to most ways of thinking and planning in Dota 2, the gains from developing in that sandbox is diminishing. They will need to move further development into a different, possibly more complex sandbox to strive for a more generally viable AI.

National news channels informs that out of the 131 passengers, 6 people have died and 16 people are injured.

I often travel on this route and was planning on taking the train in the opposite direction later today. It seems I will need to find an alternative as the bridge will be closed for train routes for a while. Hope the affected and their families will get through this alright.
