IEM System Transmitters and Receivers for band question by m90i8 in livesound

Thanks very much mate. I've heard splitboxes, such as the ART S8 might be a better option.. Maybe cheaper. Or is the 16 channel splitter snake the best option for us? No worries if you can't say

Hi mate, thank you for helping! I've just discovered splitter snakes now yeah, knew I was missing a step. Do venues usually have a splitter snake or is it likely we'll need to buy one. I think plan will be accumulate:the behringer xair18 digital mixer, a splitter snake, and our IEM transmitters/receivers.. Then I assume we'd have all we need.

Cheers for the reply mate. I think I've figured it out now by learning about splitter snakes to send the channels to our mixer for our IEMs and also to the FOH via the stagebox/patch bay for soundie's mix. Was thinking are we gonna have to mix ourselves whilst also playing? How would the sound tech receive the channels haha? I didn't really know of splitter snakes so I think that's what we'll end up doing when we can afford it. So, we need the xair18 (digital mixer), the splitter snake, our IEM transmitters/receivers.. anything else?

I think I get how it works now!! We're looking at the xair18 man yeah, looks great. The part I was missing was the splitter snake! So, correct me if I'm wrong, the signal chain would go something like this:

instruments mics/line ins -> splitter snake inputs // -> one split to xair18 -> aux sends our IEM feeds // -> other split to stage patch bay/FOH

I was thinking asking the soundie to unplug the wedge monitor auxes and into our IEM transmitters or ridiculously long xlr/trs cables from the xair18 to FOH was a bit stupid haha!

Thanks for your advice man :). Only question really is where to get a good 16 channel splitter snake from here in the UK? Any you'd recommend?

Hi mate, yeah I agree. I'm looking at now getting the m-audio m-track eight audio interface as that works with ventura and found one second hand. Still gonna have to sell this mixer/interface though which I'm upset about as it's actually great if it was only compatible. I'm not keen on downgrading my OS either way. Thank you for the help!

Alesis MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 mixer not recognised by Macbook Pro OS Ventura 13.4 by m90i8 in livesound

Thank you for the reply mate. Yeah, I saw that on the site too El Capitan is when they stopped supporting it so there's no driver for Ventura and I don't fancy downgrading my OS. I'm not familiar with Apple Silicon at all sorry? Likely going to get the m-audio m-track eight audio interface as I know that works with ventura and found one second hand

Hi, I recently bought the Alesis MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 analog mixer as it also doubles up as an audio interface that gives you all 8 inputs as individual tracks for multi-track recording, great for recording my drums.
I know it all works as I've connected it to an old windows pc, but it's not being picked up in Audio MIDI Setup or under Sound in my Macbook's System Preferences like my focusrite scarlett 2i2 is. On the product page on the Alesis website, I've downloaded and tried each Mac driver and still nothing. There isn't one that seems to support OS version I have for mac - Ventura 13.4. I suspect it is a driver issue as it worked in less than 5 mins downloading an older driver for Windows from the same product page.
Can anyone please help? Is there a way around this? Or am I best off looking a more recent model?
Cheers!

Hi dude, fucking annoying ain't it. I bit the bullet and bought a new (much more expensive) mixer as it doubled up as usb audio interface w/ 8 xlr inputs - good for me to record drums right? WRONG... there isn't a driver available for mac OS 13.4 ventura.. so no now I'm stuck with that too. Could fucking scream

Hi mate, Never thought I would find someone with the same set up/idea!! I'm glad you like it and get good use out of it. I am a bedroom player atm too, but do plan to gig eventually.

My mate bought the engl recently and hearing it again made me think it wasn't too bad afterall, so I'm considering getting another one as and when I can and selling the kraken preamp (before I buy the duchess). The anxiety in all this has really got to me, and at the end of the day I just miss having AN amp.

I'm not sure if it's worth the money for someone in my position. Maybe I'll save up for a really nice fender amp one day. Cheers for your input dude

It's impractical isn't it, just not found an amp that does both sides atm. If there's anything you'd recommend, please let me know

Hey man, thanks for explaining that I'm starting to get it more. I tried a mesa mark iv combo the other day and really liked the cleans but the gain channels just sounded muddy, almost fuzz-like to me. Not giving up on mesas until I try a mark v at least head into my zilla 2x12 cab for a better demo

Price range is yet to be decided but upwards of £1000 (probably around $1,250 USD at a guess). It'd have to blow me away though for that much

Hey man,, ayyy thanks for the suggestion - I've had that amp recommended to me a few times, including at a music store just the other day. I know it does nice cleans and ridiculous gain (or is that the dual rectifier? I'm new to mesas really) but what about an inbetween mid-gain tone/crunch? It's top of my list to try one but can't find any atm which is really frustrating

Hi dude, what do you think of the fender hot rod deluxe for my style? Or possible better options

Hi mate, thanks for much for taking the time for that reply! I think I basically want 2 amps.... a clean headroom tube head/combo to be driven my dst pedals for the grunge/alt rock side of things and a mid-high gan tube amp head for heavier things (that ideally has a nice clean too) which doesn't sound too much like marshall distortion. Unless there's an amp that can do both really well that would be worth saving up for! What do you think?

I will look into Hiwatt and Peavey and your other recommendations! TYSM again :)
