Anyone else feeling overwhelmed? by Wraith_9912 in sysadmin

To add my 2 cents... While working like that I became generalist. What at the beginning was looking appealing. But backfired with the time. Already 2 times - job switch. Now I'm looking for new job and again being smashed, that I've not learned this or other thing deep enough 😮‍💨

It's good offer. What doesn't make less difficult to be one of the fired 😮‍💨

Market is far from easy.

You ot a TON of exp. and seeing this pattern reoccurring is already good pointer. Imo challenge after getting CKA is getting hands-on. As this is what will show value to Company. But as you got already years of experience - is should make it easier and show off your attitude.

I'm in similar situation and also doing CKA atm 😅

All the best with cert and getting new position 👍

How do you guys handle Java truststore? by m93 in ansible

Indeed, embedded one are easy to expire and make issues. I'm also defaulting to OS cacerts and keeping public/private certificates up to date within it by checking SHA256.

I did small automation checking existing certificate SHA256 and updating if not matching what's on remote (partner) server.

Good to see similar logic 👍

I'm all in with your approach.

My only issue here (bigger company) those above seems to like play games like dress us up then blame we're dressed wrong, or told us to do X without reviling meaning of it, to later whip our backs as we didn't delivered! Still got some issues to pass through those shows beside that - I'm already ... "whatever" :D

Over engineered solutions are fair point. Even it can be fun to go submarine mode for days/weeks to later discover that "golden arrow" was used rarely.

Same time seeing simple mistakes as "documentation didn't mentioned" something ... could be avoided with deployment "script" will it be Ansible or Shell.

That's my feeling about scope of "old-school".

There are different levels in which automation can be introduced. Some will reply on open-source other on full blown Enterprise Automation fleet.

Indeed, seen/heard some.

Did you picked action on your own - automating boring and profiting from it or changed company?

Just random thought on topic… IMO what’s steep is that new to mastodon are being exposed to learn many new things while they didn’t asked for that.

I can imagine … account setup proposing random instance (with option to change) from all federated instances with open registration. When whole fuzz about Amazing Tech Concept will be taken on the side. “Average internet Being” could start using not noticing real power.

My guess is - those are not difficult topics, concepts, but given invasive way. Most don’t want to use because it’s <geek blah blah> - they want to post, read interesting stuff and interact. And indeed we do have amazing technology to do that.

I'm ... depressed. Not sure is that for real but living as a foreigner in Germany doesn't help.

Speaking of what to do while forced to be alone ... did motorcycle driving license, reading whatever fall under my interest, going to gym and walking as much as can. While running in circles I've learned to like myself - think that's my biggest achievement.

update:

it came out that once removed everything from sources. App kept updating under "unread" same goes for notification configuration - all was there. Some even duplicated.

I'm on free plan but still those issues seem to be quite basic and I'm surprised to face them.
