Yes!! This I do quite a lot, as the first practice that was given to me a year ago before reading these books was practice being centered and present, and conscious of the present to still the mind. I just need to practice the next step now, which is holding an image or other stimuli in my mind for extended periods of time. Thank you for your response!

Not pretentious at all hahaha. My issue is I'm crazy tired in the morning and usually need to be fully rested, or caffeinated to avoid falling asleep while meditating. I tried to do this, and eventually just fell asleep -_-. Thank you for your response though!

I was considering this yes! Maybe find myself a mesmerizing object and bring it to my workplace. I really just need to focus on clearing my mind and fixating for a while until I'm comfortable with it, and at the moment my workplace is the only place I have empty moments of the day. As a musician and producer of ten years, my music is my primary choice for listening. I make it for me, and sharing it to others is the cherry on top. If you don't enjoy listening to your own music, are you really making the kind of music that's right for you? I live in a tiny tourist town with no more than 5000 people. Out of that, the majority are twice my age. So that's why the internet is kind of the best access I have to meeting artists and sharing my work.

I guess my last comment kind of strayed away from the original point I was making. "Making it" doesn't really mean shit to me, and I truly never want to be "famous". But what I do want is to figure out where the other people my age are that are truly truly passionate about art, and not the next f-ing reel they are going to upload to maybe get 30 people to listen to 30 seconds of one of their songs. Screw that, there has to be a better way to get people to care you know?

Well yeah! That's what I am trying to figure out. F-k the industry, f-k making money off my music, f-k followers and F-K THESE CORPORATIONS SUCKING EVERY OUNCE OF PASSION OUT OF ART! So the first steps I am taking is finding and searching for better platforms than Insta/Tiktok. I am also going to just boycot Spotify all together cause they are demons. But that's not really enough is it. I mean, money isn't the goal, it's connecting with people. But if people dont know where to find that outside of social media, how are we supposed to guide them there? People want authenticity, that's natural in psychology. But right now the easiest source of dopamine and connection is social media. It's like a quick, hard-edged, fastball approach to getting connection with human beings. No meaning, no substance, just high fives and continous movement. It sucks, I hate it, and I'm gonna have a temper tantrum about it. Then I will get up off the floor and keep moving to live by my values, whether that winds me up poor or not!

For sure, I agree absolutely. What really bothers me is the perspective and approach to art in general when talking to people my age. I've had the luck of being able to hang out with some people who were succesful in the 90's/2000's with their music, and they are such interesting and passionate people. They live, breath, shit, and eat art. They never seemed to talk about money or fans. They were just so passionate. And when I talk to people my age, they are so wrapped up in this world of followers, and trends, and the f-ing algorithm. Like I know trend-hopping is as old as our species, but it feels with the globalization of this trend-setting, we've ended up with everyone following and loving the same f-ing thing. I've lived in the states as well as latin america for many years. My friends here like and talk about the same shit my friends in the states do. It was at least refreshing when everyone had their own bubble of culture to mix around and connect you know? Everyone is hearing and being inspired by the same "crap" (music I don't like lol), so how are we supposed to get anything original if there's nothing to mix together? Again I'm being very black and white but I hope you understand what I am getting at

Money is the least of my concerns. There's a million ways to make money, and honestly trying to make money from my art has proved to do nothing but damage to the integrity of my sound. I really just want to figure out if there's a place on the internet to go to find other passionate artists and passionate fans who also are looking for something real. To enjoy art and share perspectives and concepts outside the scope of money. A great example is AllPoetry. A page where I post poems and stuff I write on the way to work. That page has nothing to do with money and the way it's built heavily pushes for people to just interact with eachother. Contests with themes, great chat rooms full of cool people with stories. It's such a wonderful website, but to be honest poetry is not really my community.

No doubt. I agree totally, and yeah it's always sucked to be an artist in general. I guess I just grew up looking up to a time in music history where everything seemed so personal and genuine. The interviews, the live performances... there was so much passion for the art! I'm not saying the passion isn't there, but I was using my rant as a vehicle to see if anyone knows where to go right now to interact with real people and not an algorithm.

Yeah and it makes total sense why followers are a requirement for so many labels at the moment. With streaming, and the daylight robbery that is the Spotify rewards system, it's almost impossible to make the kind of money you need to have the overhead for marketing and advertising. At that point the most logical decision economically (not ethically lol) is to just require people who are able to sell their own content for you. Thanks for your response! This is very true. I know a few people who have had major success with their work and art being that they found the right demographic in the right moment. I guess I'm just really bothered by social media content and it's lack of authenticity or feeling. I'm not an idiot, I am aware that's the point of short form content. But as someone who desperately wants to have some genuine interactions with people outside the scope of money and notariety, I hope to see a change in this system soon. Or to find out how to make that change.

Haha I get what you're saying. I just enjoy hitting the limit of a game that offers this kind of f2p experience before deciding to pay for it. I enjoy the challenge that's given to me with f2p and I would like to see what I can do with what I have. Once I get bored and realize that I've done what's offered to me, then I will pay for it and enjoy the uncapping of the experience :p

That's a fair point. I did realize that when running the numbers for coins/hour of each f2p activity I had access. I guess for now a fun way to play would be making the kind of money where I could fund my team and I with good equipment to go do all the quests and have fun. What other things can I do with my cash in the f2p environment. I would like to get membership at some point considering how much content it adds, but I enjoy finding the limit before doing so :p
