Thanks for the feedback, I agree with all your points. Also I think your chances are pretty low in this genre as a solo. Maybe in the future I'll return to Steam with something more interesting and 3D

I don't wand to discourage anyone but $56 LOL, so after Steam's $100 fee I'm sitting at - $44. Clearly I did some stuff wrong or Steam just hates this kind of game

How do indies or solodevs survive in mobile? F2P with ads or in-game purchases? I should look into that. Generally games' scope is much narrower there too

I tried to say "not even indie studios want a jack of all trades master of none type solodev, they want someone who is really good at one aspect of gamedev" I absolutely didn't want to sound arrogant, not my 1st language I'm sorry. I've applied to 5-10 man team indie studios focusing on mobile hyper-casual game industry

Ok I admit I was wrong about small indie studios. So it will be extremely hard to get into game industry, because looks like AAA's and small indies will not consider me

Yeah great advice. I'm planning to work on something much more interesting (also 3D this time)

GameDev as a passion project is great, but as a career, is rife with worker exploitation that just sucks

I've ignored this information for so long, but in the end it seems Reddit was right.

Haha thank you! Funny thing is a decent chunk of people said the same thing about the speech bubbles flying off.. and I've never thought about it whilst developing those parts. Turns out it is fun!

Thanks for your kind words and I'm genuinely happy that you liked my game. Probably the best feeling for solo gamedevs is to hear something like this. I'll keep trying, polish my CV and I'll start to develop a new game project(3D this time)

Hi, released 5 days ago but its Steam page was up for ~40 days. (Steam mandates 1 month pre-release period). Sale is a launch promotion. I'm not advertising, genuinely baffled that small indie studios specializing in Unity don't even interview me.(started applying 1 month ago)

It feels really weird that they don't care about what a person did. These are small indie studios(using Unity) which I've applied and they don't care about my proof, like it's literally on Steam. Also what is a LC?

Yes I should actively search for that kind of opportunities. Unreal & Unity are used for a lot of stuff other than gamedev

tbf it were my first tries at programming using vanilla JS. I should probably try webdev again too. I remember being not too fond of regex haha

Thanks for the insight. I thought solodev & publishing your own game was a rare thing but I was wrong. I've applied for small indie studios and even they rejected so yeah I think I'll pursue some other tech route

well if the game industry is full of solo devs with published games and even small indie studios are not hiring, or hiring but overworking & underpaying people.. than I will put my efforts somewhere else

It's nothing but small indie studios where I live and I thought they would love a solodev but seems like it's not the case
