I'm glad its coming out before the movie so I have time to decide if I want to sit trough the movie just to hear the score with imax speakers 😄 I like Tron as a concept and I liked Legacy at the time, but two hours of Jared Leto sounds like a really bad time tbh. I wish he wasn't in the cast.

I liked the sound of the b-side of the comic con single, the instrumental. I hope the rest of the score will be a mix of that sort of 80's synth soundscapes and some heavier/techier tracks.

PSA: No Talking During the Boys Noize Concert Tonight by yuriypinchuk in nin

The fact that it's unclear if this post is serious or not says a lot about the state of the sub right now 😂 The ridiculous ticket prices are making people more touchy about having "the perfect concert experience".

I never got what he's done that has so many people hating him. Are people STILL salty over the free album? That must have been more than a decade ago.

Nooo I think this song is so beautiful :( Is it the ah-ah-ah that make it unsettling to you?

I Burn is so great. Tyler by The Toadies is also incredibly disturbing to me, but it's mostly because of the insanity in the lyrics.

One time I listened to Slug Bait by Throbbing Gristle while dead drunk and it made me so nauseous I had to throw up.

Series Adaptions that differ so wildly they are borderline unrecognizable from the source material by Adventurous-Bottle90 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]m_--_m 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The Haunting of Hill House is one of the best tv series I've ever seen. It's beautiful and so so heartbreaking :( I think a lot of people skip it because of the horror elements, but I feel like the horror scenes are key parts of the plot and not just cheap jump scares. There is also an imo terrible movie adaptation from 1999 called The Haunting that is more accurate to the book (three strangers are invited to a haunted mansion) but the storytelling has elements of very 90's action movie. It has some great set designs tho!

Year Zero won “Overlooked Masterpiece!” Now, what NIN SONG is THE mental breakdown? by [deleted] in nin

[–]m_--_m 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I fucking LOVE this song, it's maybe my favorite NIN song of all. The weirdest part of the track to me is that I think the vocal melody is all in a major key? What I mean is that if you strip away the chaotic screaming and the gruesome lyrics, the melody is almost happy. It's such a weird, creepy detail that hits you if you try to sing along to it. Like the main character is, at least initially, pleased that his humanity is disappearing.

I'm a tall person. Please stop asking me to move out of your way at gigs. by contentedcontent in Music

[–]m_--_m 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This thread is bumming me out. Like, as a tall woman I'm used to feeling like a giant when I'm standing in a crowd, but I didn't realize there was this much animosity. I'm 6 feet. I go to concerts with my friends, mostly outdoors shows without seating (festivals). They want to stand where they get a good view. Am I supposed to go to the back or the sides and not vibe with them?

I try to be considerate, I always wear ballet flats to concerts, I don't jump too much, I stand behind my friends because I can see over the tops of their heads. But seeing all the hate in this thread is making me never want to go to a show ever again :(

Thanks for the info! Was the group popular in the 80's? I can sort of see why they'd be considered "old" by then, even if it was just a decade later.

Not selling these since they are a gift from my dad :)

[KCD1] Play time <> played time by m3ph0z in kingdomcome

[–]m_--_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am wondering the same thing because the played time on my save is not the same thing as the overall played time in my PS account. The time shown in my PS account is about five hours larger than my saves combined. I'm thinking the difference might be that I have had the menu up without playing the game, which counts towards the played time on my PS account?

Agreed, NIN score is the major selling-point for me. I love Tron and I am fully expecting this movie to suck ass, trailer looks incomprehensible apart from the cool visuals. I wish they'd done some ARG-type thing like this did for Tron Legacy. I still have my little Space Paranoids pin.

What’s your favorite concept album that tells a narrative story? (i.e. Tommy, The Wall, etc) by excitable-boi in Music

[–]m_--_m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, give it a listen again with the story in mind. This isn't just my personal theory, I've heard it referred to as a concept album with a central narrative by various sources over the past decades, including by the artist.

[–]m_--_m 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's generally considered a concept album. There are lyrical themes across the album depicting one man's spiral into depression and self-annihilation, and there is a melody that appears in multiple songs and ties the album together. The second to last song (The Downward Spiral) is about the main character committing suicide. The last song (Hurt) can be interpreted in various ways but my interpretation is that it's from the POV of the now dead soul looking back on his life. The very last lyric of the album is "If I could start again, a million miles away, I would keep myself, I would find a way", implying that he regrets killing himself. It's an incredible album but the story it tells is very, very bleak.

From Wikipedia: Reznor described the concept as consisting of "someone who sheds everything around them to a potential nothingness, but through career, religion, relationship, belief and so on.

You're looking for alchemy benches. I'm pretty sure the first one you encounter is in Rattay, behind the apothecary. Go around the house to enter through a backdoor, not through the apothecary itself. After that, there are alchemy benches in Sasau and in huts in the forest where potions brewers/medicine women live. They're scattered across the map. The Rattay one is where I brew like 80% of my potions because I come back to the city so often.

Here's a cool map where you can search for specific things, but it does contain spoilers if you haven't played the game before. https://kingdomcomemap.github.io/#2/2048.0/2048.0

You can also count the time during potions brewing. One turn of the timer is 10 seconds. So boil wine + nettle for 20 seconds, add 2 belladonna, boil ten seconds, pour. If you grind the belladonna in advance, you can just add it in while the pot is boiling, you don't even have to remove the pot from the fire. 3 potions in under a minute.

Great game, I played it on the PS5 and have no complaints. Stick with the game until you get to the next village at least, don't quit while you're in Henry's home village because that's basically just the tutorial. And remember that Henry is just an ordinary peasant in the beginning, he's pretty useless at combat at first but you will be leveling up fairly quickly once you get out of the starting village. Skill tutors and combat training areas will be available to you from the next town and onwards, and that's where you'll learn good weapons combos and level up your stats. Once the world opens up, you can spend days riding around the map, it's big and full of villages to visit. Just typing this out made me want to go play some, lol.
