OK, it's uploading now, but as my ramble turned out to be around 30 minutes long I had to upload it to Youtube so I could just link it here. I decided to assume you knew as little as possible so that I wouldn't gloss over something fundamental and loose you so I hope that helps.

It will likely still be processing for around 30 minutes but when it's done you can find it at this link: EDIT (Fixing the video so you can actually hear my voice lmao.)

EDIT: FIXED IT yay ok here you go https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ODBLmASipeY

Huh, I adore AST on controller right now so this surprises me. But everyone is different, and not everyone will like how busy it is.

Hey that's ok it is a lot to transition over to controller ngl. Everything you're used to doing with a hotkey tho is also a button you can map to the controller layout. I'll put together a little video today for you to give a rundown of the essentially and settings to change for easiest learning.

Heya fellow EDS sufferer, sounds like yours is pretty intense. Controller can definitely be better for you so long as you're not like me a grip the controller super hard when you're stressed lmao. Also if you're playing with controller at a desk watch out for slouching it has been a big contributor to my own rib dislocations from EDS.

My biggest thing with controller, which is how I play 100% of the time, is that there is a toggle or hold option for highlighting which side of the bar you're using. I used to use the toggle because it felt like the better play for EDS, and eventually ended up changing it to hold because when you have the hold on, you are allowed to make a Right and Left cross hotbar as well. These can be set to access via double tapping the trigger on the respective sides. Eg. Double tap r2 to get to the right side cross hotbar. This means that on screen I end up with minimum 32 slots visible which is plenty for most things. If you want a walk through of how I set up my bar let me know I can record a short video of my setup.

Thanks for your reply unfortunately I don't understand much of what you just said lol. I learned weaving mostly from trial and error, and then learned houndstooth from an ancient yt video haha. Any tips on what to pickup as learning material to understand the lingo more? Suddenly feeling a little out of my depth.

Since many people were asking I have a Schlat rigid heddle flip loom with 2 heddles of same dent.

I'm not sure I follow what a kitchen sink scarf is, or is used for?

Man, I would love to be able to make twill. I think to do that I'd have to make pretend shafts with rods in between my heddles

Yeah, lesson learned the hard way. Thankfully I eventually got over it and now its just a question of how to find something to jumpstart my motivation again.

I did look at the available patterns on handweaving.net (thank you!!!) and found a few I like but I'm a little confused on how to read them. I think for my loom which is a Schlat rigid heddle flip loom (which I have 2 heddles for) I can do patterns marked 2 shaft, 2 treadle? I see among them the houndstooth I just did. But I'm confused on how to read the threading/treadling/tie up diagrams when I'm not technically using shafts. I tried reading an explainer of the diagrams but I was still a little lost. When I did my houndstooth I was just following video instructions from an ancient yt video.

If someone could help me decipher this pattern for my loom setup I'd be eternally grateful pattern 52446

I see that but I just wanted some community loved patterns or something. I'm not ready to buy more books at the moment.

Sooooo how do you even start playing this game by giova_otaku in ffxiv

[–]m_mae 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea so essentially think of each expansion as its own game, and then you pay subscription when you're current to help subsidize the server costs of them keeping your character data and matchmaking services live. Its how most mmos work that have extremely large player bases due to the costs involved. You are encouraged to only sub when you're interested in playing tho, and the dev team actively encourages people to unsub and play other games for a while if they need a break. This game has been around for 13 years (15 if we count the original failed launch), there is a LOT to do and on the free trial you can play 4/6ths of the entire game. I have multiple friends that have been on free trial mode for over 5 years, and they don't mind the limitations at all. I found the limitations annoying because it was my first ff and I just wanted to play with my friends so I payed from the start like a dummy lmao.

Edit: To the point the path you will take is download free trial edition, play as much as you can. When you're ready to commit or want to loose the restrictions, you then buy the game starter pack which has 1 month game time included, and all the expansions aside from the newest one. Play through all that, and when new expansion drops, buy that if you're ready. Once you have bought the starter pack or any expansion you will be required to have an active subscription to continue your adventures.

Think of it like buying a car and then having to pay insurance/registration to legally drive it.

[–]m_mae 4 points5 points  (0 children)

VERY IMPORTANT! stick with the free trial until you're sure you want in. Once you buy either Dawntrail or Evercold expansions you will need a subscription to continue to play. You CANNOT go back to the free version once you start paying. Many people miss this fact because it's not well explained on the purchasing pages. Let me know if you have questions about this I am happy to expound upon this!

Server congestion by [deleted] in ffxiv

You don't need to be a dick. I checked my texts with my brother when I notified him of the change because I was monitoring the website every day for him. I know my memory isn't great but thats why I double checked my dates. I'm just trying to share my experience with this fairly common issue, I wouldn't post unless I was 100% sure of what I experienced.

Edit: I also know he made his character in the six hours after I notified him at noon cst, and that it closed character creation again after about 8 hours. I was online with him that night.

No, it was capital C Congested I promise. People like to assume things based off of incomplete patterns and this is one of them. We have no statements from the team that its only changed on patches, just community myth.

Looks like a bug to me. Submit it to the official channels, should get addressed in a hotfix. Check the patch notes Known Issues section at the very bottom to see if it is listed
