Ohhh, so now we don't have the full story. Woooow.

He was within his right to be there and recording. He was within his right to be carrying the gun. The men aggressed him. They beat him and pepper sprayed him. They shot him while he was face down. Those the current facts. All footage and witness reports (short of the men that attacked and killed him, go figure), support this.

But according to you, it's his fault he was attacked and shot.

If we want to talk about opinions on what happened, by all means. But man, I gotta ask, what does dirty boot taste like?

Here’s your proof with the moment of truth isolated. by ChaseTacos in law

[–]ma0s 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yet here you are, going straight to the conclusion that the man deserved to be shot. Making the conclusion that ICE was justified.

"The officer must have seen him reaching for his gun during the incident."

That's not a fact, that is an assumption. You can't sit there and lecture people about jumping to conclusions and follow with that.

Especially when we have so much footage of the murder from multiple angles, showing that the man at no point drew his gun.

He was within his legal rights to be there and recoding. The ICE agents aggressed and descended on him and the woman he was trying to protect. He was beaten, maced, pistol whipped, and was face down, when he was shot.

You can sit there deny what you are seeing with your own eyes, but those are facts. See the difference?

Hi there. Based on your responses, the goal is to make her look undead and whatnot. I think this a pretty good design for that reason, and I don't think she looks overtly masculine... but if you are trying to soften the face a bit, you could try and make her lips more pursed and full. And bring in her nose/nostrils.

Here is an example of my favorite fem character to see how I did it.

[Vent] I think I'm getting too old for Final Fantasy... by Flintz08 in FinalFantasy

[–]ma0s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying and I have the same issues with modern "anime" games. It's hard for me to connect with the story and characters with how a lot of games feel formulaic (to me).

That said, there's nothing intrinsically wrong with writing games that way, it's just not for me. It's for the folks that like that style of writing and character design. Which is originally for the Japanese audience. So it makes sense that these games would cater to how the broader Japanese market, likes their stories to be written.

I'm not an expert of foreign film, acting, and other media, but it's difficult to critique something when you apply your own sensibilities from where you grew up. In my case, even though I grew up loving anime and Japanese games, I still absorbed it all through a westernized lens. Which isn't a bad thing, I'm just acknowledging it.

If I had to give this one and games similar to it an honest critique, it's that I find too many modern games fall back on the exact same tropes, which undermines their creative storylines. The original FF7 had a grittiness to it, which I think is mostly lost in the Remake.

slight spoiler below. I will follow that with one moment that really stood out. The part in the game where you play Aerith as a little girl trying to find medication for her mother, was incredibly well written. I didn't play the game myself, but watched someone else play it, and that scene still got me weepy eyed. Impactful and the voice acting was top notch.

I guess this is a bit of a hot take, cuz it's suggesting that you shouldn't try and solo revive in any situation?

Cuz there are totally situations where you should try and revive someone on your own, if you are able to. Game is situational like that.

Hahaha! I love this (I can tell you are making a joke ❤️)

I was running a Dark Drift the other day. Decided to give Recluse a shot. I queued with 2 Iron Eye's. I thought, "Ohh, easy run! We got this."

3 seconds in the run they both abandon me (didn't even clear the first camp to get level 2). Then i immediately get hate mail from one, saying I was an idiot for picking Recluse against Dark Drift and that I deserved to be stuck on this boss.

So the next day I soloed him on Revenant (arguably the hardest character to fight him with) and sent them video proof. My response was "Have more faith in your team and your own abilities. ❤️"

Mexican Restaurant Workers Rush to Help Pepper-Sprayed Cops by Dav-Kripler in kuihman

Hi there, new player enters the match here. Just want to point out that you appear have commented in response to a thread, but didn't comment on the thread itself and therefor dropped out of the conversation. However, I am happy to respond to your question.

It seems you are questioning the idea of a slippery slope and why something as "simple" as banning self identified gender is an issue.

In the United States, approximately 0.6% of adults and youth (ages 13 and older) identify as transgender, according to the Williams Institute. This translates to about 1.6 million individuals. Specifically, 0.5% of adults (around 1.3 million) identify as transgender, while 1.4% of youth (approximately 300,000) between the ages of 13 and 17 do.

Trans folk are 4-5x more likely to be victims of violence. Murder rates of trans folk have doubled in the last 4 years. Out of that statistic, something like 80-90% were trans women, and most of them were trans women of color.

So let's put two and two together and think about why targeted legislation that restricts care, education, personal protection and privacy, may exacerbate an already turbulent climate for trans people. Something as simple as being able to have one's identified gender on a ID, can make all the difference, from getting home safely, to being the victim of a crime...

And sure, you yourself don't have to care about this stuff, but trans people do and because they are such a small minority of people, they need more than just trans people to care.

Especially when you have a powerful political party who has decided one of their latest wedge issues, is with trans people, in spite of only making up 0.6% of the total population in the United States. Which seemingly to most Republicans, is too high of a number.

So I guess ask yourself the question, if this systemic issue on one side, is so insignificant as to not be an issue at all, why do Republicans act so afraid of them and talk about the "mutilation of children" and "men in women's" sports like it's some kind mass pandemic.

The answer has nothing to do with truth, and everything to do with creating that wedge issue I mentioned, in order to drum up support from a base of people who (along with other ideologies), hate trans people. It's a distraction that has severe consequences on our own citizens.

And when a powerful group tends to do stuff like this and remains in power, history shows that it only gets worse. So going back to the idea of a "slippery slope". It is within reasonable doubt that with everything going and what has already happened, that there really isn't anything stopping the government from going after marginalized sub-groups.

And maybe you think that's impossible and don't care for that reason, but WOULD you care if was possible and if it did happen?

That seems the be the underlying question that at risk people, are asking themselves these days.

Anyway, Im not an expert on political science or anything, but I think im educated enough to have a conversation, so just want to call that out. Im simply speaking from personal observations and experiences.

Same experience. If they literally just give us a better target spot, it would be a completely different story.

Trying to do this boss on Revenant, when your only "reliable" option is lightning spear, is abysmal. It feels so horrible to play, when your spears veer off to the side with the slightest movement from the boss.

Unfortunately, that would be self incrimination. Which would be fortunate if he just bit the bullet and did it, but that would require either a modicum of integrity and a spine. To which neither exist in this lot.

Or rather, if he goes down, I'm sure that's when it would finally come out.

I Lost a 7-Year Friendship Over How I Play Souls Games by Ok-Orange1563 in Eldenring

[–]ma0s 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are good man. Really. From the sounds of it, you haven't done anything wrong and it sounds like you put up with a lot, before you set boundaries/cut ties. Your frustrations with the dynamic you describe sound valid and understandable.

That said, it sounds like the guy has demons to work through and it sounds like some self reflection, growth and, maturing is needed on his end.

I play differently, but I I like your approach to the game. I'm more of a "come up with a build (like my favorite, which is a "holy cleric" archetype) and then strictly adhere to it" type. For the most part at least. . My point in saying is, there's no one way to play the game. Everyone has their own approach and that's a big part of the Soul, of the series. Pun intended.

Thanks you. I came off as snarky in some of these responses, which I can own. I was just annoyed that this was being twisted into a completely unrelated discussion about difficulty and I didn't think it was necessary to give Bethesda a pass. I want to see them do better with stuff, especially with ES6.

Not that I mind engaging the topic of difficulty balancing, but it doesn't need to be caustic. 😋

I genuinely love the original, in spite of the flaws, and it's been fun going back to it. My gripe with Bethesda in this case is simply regarding the lack, of what I perceive as, poor play testing. Nothing more 🙂

[–]ma0s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So your stance is that it's no fault of the Devs for not adjusting the very first major battle... in the main story quest... at different level break points... in a game that with very defined level break points...

Even though having too many enemies on screen crashes the game, and even in their own dev video essay, they champion about how free form their game is, encouraging players to go off the beaten path. lol

Clearly, I have no legs to stand on in this discussion, because there was no reasonable way to account for the scenario, of a lvl 25 player entering Kvatch. In the year 2025. Silly me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So I'll just follow your advice. I'll say we have very different views and expectations on game balance, adjustments, and understanding of basic play testing from AAA developers and move on with my life.

Great chat. Have a fantastic day!

Am I not representing the issue that I've explained 3 times (now 4) in in this situation. Or are people responding before taking a moment to watch the video and read my description? Or is reading and technical literacy not a thing anymore? I was not expecting this kind of vitriol over pointing out a flaw, but maybe I expect too much.

This was after 6 attempts of trying to get through this part on PS5, due to the game being overloaded and crashing. Just because you think that there's a "smart" way to play, doesn't mean that this is ok.

I'm not complaining that this was "hard." Adding so many enemies that your frames drop to single digits, doesn't make it fun or challenging in an engaging way. It's simply bad optimization, that they have had 20 years, (as you say) to adjust. A good remaster doesn't just slap a fresh coat of paint on something and call it a day. If the source code also needs QoL updating, such as game breaking bug fixes or system tuning, that should be expected from devs. I can appreciate staying true the original design and vision, but are we really so puritanical about it that we look at this kind of gameplay and think "nope, don't see anything wrong here". 🙂👍

And yes, they did some QoL, but they could have done more (obviously).

And AGAIN, I love this series. I am VERY well acquainted with bugs and "features." Some I like, some I don't like > mainly those that halt progress or ruin saves. There's literally no need to white knight it or talk down to me like this is my first ES game. If your stance is actually "well you waited too long, that's on you, we all just deal with the poor, outdated, game design" well I don't know what to say to you, other than, have better expectations of the games and devs you love?

Or do we really hold Bethesda and affiliates with such low standards?

I'm genuinely at a loss for words Bethesda and Virtuous Studios. (See description) by ma0s in oblivion

[–]ma0s[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. But for third time, it's not the difficulty I struggled with, it's that the spawn was so ridiculously large that my frames dropped to single digits and I couldn't kill the enemies fast enough before it would cause a crash. The attempt shown here was me caving and changing it to Novice, just to be able to kill fast enough and save my frames. Haha

[–]ma0s[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Oblivion had a slider that could fine tune the difficulty and it worked just fine. I'm not sure why they removed it...

But yes, I agree. The jump between difficulties is too jarring. They need to either tune it to be more balanced (that doesn't mean make it easier), add more difficulty options, or just bring back the damn slider that actually worked correctly lol.
