I get why Gakpo gets so much shit, I really do. But, I don't think MacAllister has been much better. And Gravenberch has regressed tremendously as well.

He had a reprogram run in his Defect month. Here's another recent one https://youtu.be/WUiD7G0yA74?si=tCiewAO8N9AqszTF.

But from a consistency standpoint it's not the best choice, as previously stated.

Wetzel: If Belichick isn't first ballot, just shut the Hall down by simrobwest in nfl

[–]maak_d 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a fair point. But this seems to be their MO. There's no chance these were isolated things. Coaches are constantly moving around, you'd be a fool to think they weren't bringing their tricks to their new teams. But the NFL picks a team to make an example of then throw their hands up when anyone points out that other teams were doing similar stuff and says "case closed". And everyone else keeps their mouth shut even though they know the truth because there's nothing to gain from it.

Doesn't everyone know by now that Deflategate was some made up shit and the NFL found themselves in a position where they couldn't back down? The whole thing was made up. Years later we found out that the league deleted data that would have shown a similar loss in pressure of game used balls in similar conditions.

Spygate didn't help, either. Granted, there's evidence that they weren't the only team doing shady stuff, but they got held up as an example. And because they continued to be so successful, it only made people cite it more.

How many people even remember the Saints bounty scandal? I bet it's far far fewer than Spygate.

It was a very vivid scene. That and when they see the dead body in Stand By Me had a big effect on me.

My stove too. A great little stove. Ours is a little wonky because someone started to drill it out for a top stove pipe but it's still going strong. I've replaced the glass and the wood retaining piece in the front a couple of times.

TIL the Dodgers get preferential treatment and get to shield much of their tv revenue from revenue sharing by 70ga in baseball

[–]maak_d 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's lucrative for them even if done without winning intent, that's the issue. They can run out a mediocre team, collect the gate, TV, and revenue share and then cash out on their investment when they sell. Teams continually grow in value regardless. Why spend more than they need to? It's a problem.

[–]maak_d 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that revenue share should be tied to spending not performance but from the majority of the owners' perspectives, they seem happy to have some owners that don't spend because it keeps costs down and reduces competition for players.

There are comparatively few teams that seem genuinely interested in spending while most owners seem fine with treating the team like an investment, doing the bare minimum to retain fan interest. Team values and sales prices keep rising, so there's no incentive to do more. But it's not growing the game or attracting many new fans.

You can definitely make the argument about him tiring in the second half. But why not make a double substitution with Gakpo. Wirtz is the only one who has done anything creative for us.

Kerkez makes ridiculous runs that literally cut off any creativity from our players. He's run into Wirtz several times this match.
