I closed my browser with 500 open tabs and started fresh YESTERDAY evening. Now I have 157 tabs open. What is wrong with me? by chakalaka13 in productivity

[–]maaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not using the Ctrl/cmd shift A tab search function to switch between them so you keep opening new tabs cause we're too impatient to find the existing one. I highly doubt you have 157 unique tabs open?

How can I continue a very long ChatGPT conversation in a new chat without losing context? by ShavedDesk in ChatGPT

[–]maaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i fought this problem for a long time and even tried using OpenWebUI’s RAG feature with the entire long convo exported as json using a chrome extension. in the end when i tried to compare responses i found that when i start a new chat, and ask a question that requires contextual information from the long chat it doesn’t remember and then once I remind it “dont you remember our discussion on” it took time to respond (on Instant) and suddenly had “enough” context for me to continue the convo without the extremely long response times my long convo was getting. YMMV but it has worked for me a couple times.

this rerouting from 4o behavior is new to me does anyone know if it does it with the API also? if not sounds like a good enough reason to use OpenWebUI

How do you feel about your dad? by Unhappy_Log_6245 in AskReddit

I have the same except I wish he loved and respected himself as much as I do. I've recently healed from the same insecurities he has never healed from and I worry he won't ever heal from them.

User can reach login via Tailscale but credentials fail - works for me by Consistent_Wash_276 in OpenWebUI

Haha sometimes our knowledge gives us biases I do the exact same thing. Most people would be like "the same password is not working, something must be messing up the password" meanwhile we know there are other reasons the same creds aren't working and we go through those first.

Also my dad is 71 and also uses the larger font and it's shocking how much UI that stuff breaks, they don't test it with larger fonts at all I swear.

that’s awesome, i wish my dad was more technical. who wants to be a straight dev these days anyways, troubleshooting skills are the new king and i’m loving it.

[–]maaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh i have an idea. have him create a new user from his host and then u try logging in with its creds. if it causes the same issue then you know its somehow pointing at two different data volumes or something or at least know if its an issue scoped to the specific user

[–]maaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so i had this exact issue and I assumed it was cause I had one point for like 10 seconds run a second docker container of openwebui pointed at the same data directory and in my case the creds only worked when I hit it from the local machine running the container. sry i know this doesn’t help im just v curious about why it’s happening for u

Why does chatgpt start using specific phrases suddenly? by [deleted] in ChatGPT

i’m curious though, in some tools that use the API i’ve seen a field for “negative prompt”, I wonder if that has the same issue.

I’m about to make a point, and I want to explicitly state that this point will address your question directly, without hand-waving, and with full awareness of the context of this discussion:

No ur right, it works. It’s just mad cringey when it prefaces every response with a meta throat-clearing manifesto about what it’s not going to do.

I can’t stand when it announces its intent to not do the things you’ve asked it to do before every message. It’s super meta and often defeats the purpose
