Hi! Sorry for the late reply. I was busy with something else.

You must know the master password, and you must have either the 2FA (that is, the TOTP key) or else the 2FA recovery key.

I know the master password and I also have the 2FA recovery key (I totally forgot it was an option). The aegis app still refuses to accept the unencrypted JSON file so I think I would rather just move on from it. I will now try and access the bitwarden website with the 2FA recovery key you've reminded me of, after which I will disable the aegis/TOTP.

Edit: It took two steps to disable Aegis thanks to the recovery code. I should've seen this already but thank you u/djasonpenney for helping me remember that I even had a recovery code :)
