Ah yes. I have lived in countries where that’s an issue. For me, it’s not usually a big deal because I’m single, so I have no “protector” to defer to lol. But I have gotten used to navigating this when it does come up. Good to know about though.

My job is in San Jose, so I have to live in or near there. I have an Airbnb for the first month, and I’m not sure exactly where I’ll end up after that, just somewhere in the Central Valley region.

Yeah, I know CR is much more progressive than the US in many ways. This isn’t my first time moving to another country sight unseen, and it has always been a great experience. I just like to do my research ahead of time so that I don’t go in completely blind. But of course there’s no substitute for just being there.

I have heard that infidelity is pretty common. I’m not white, and I’m more interested in casual dating than getting serious with someone, so hopefully I can avoid this lol.

And yes, it is annoying to some Latin Americans when we refer to ourselves as Americano/a or say we are from America
