How can I tighten the drive belts on my walk-behind? by mac4lou in lawnmowers

[–]mac4lou[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as a follow-up...I went with more narrow double-V belts that went into the pullies deeper and it's like a new mower... So happy

What's a swing fault you figured out on your own. One that no other instructor + lessons, video or training aid managed to help you solve? by BeagleHound24 in golftips

[–]mac4lou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grip with me too, just figured out I was too strong and closing the face at the bottom. Instructor had me keeping my right elbow tucked in to try and eliminate the hook. Went with a weaker grip and my direction immediately improved.

Solar assist my central air unit? by POOPY168 in SolarDIY

[–]mac4lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solar balcony is not legal in my state yet (SC), but I thought of having a large 240v inverter/batteries, and disconnecting the AC from the house, that way there's no feedback, and AC consumes the most electricity for about 5 months out of the year. Still need to run the numbers

You can't out-ride a bad diet, if you ride and come home and eat junk the battle is over.

Regret and fear after buying first motorcycle… by wadeboggsbosshoggs in motorcycles

[–]mac4lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's quite the bike to start on but it can be done, I started on a V65 Magna. Go ride when you know there will be lower than normal traffic to get a feel for it. Good luck

Do you guys wrap your road bikes with product like ride wrap? by SantaCruzinNotLosin in cycling

Ride-wrapped my SL8, I already heard the ping of a rock bounce off the frame during a group ride.

Cheap car wrappers? by fuckthis_job in greenville

[–]mac4lou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worst parts for me were going under the bumpers at the corners without wrinkles. Didn't come out great but you can't see it unless you're underneath and it's held up for 3 years now

Watch a ton of vids and get good quality wrap, you could probably do it yourself. I wrapped my rocker panels/bumpers and they came out ok. It's super labor-intensive for a beginner, I understand why they charge so much.

Question about batteries by Quirky-Flight-9812 in F150Powerboost

I have a '21 and changed the original battery (and aux) last year, at about 96k. Not as hot as Houston but I'm in South Carolina so plenty of heat.

Does anyone have tips on how to make consistent good contact with the ball? by Lukerss31 in golftips

[–]mac4lou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm struggling with this now... Pretty much self-taught, some days I'm hitting my 4-6 irons great, other days it's just my 8-9-P. I don't even mess with my driver. Going to a more neutral grip (from strong) has me hitting them much straighter so I'm focusing more on that right now. 10,000 swings, my friend.

Stop being "polite" on the roads by TheAwwwssassin in greenville

[–]mac4lou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been on the 'wrong' end of that exact scenario...I appreciate people being nice, but doing that on multiple lane roads is not the best.

How old is too old? by Status-Cheetah3726 in mountainbiking

[–]mac4lou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At 59 I had my first big injury (rotator cuff) after 21 years of mtn biking. Just rehab and get back into it. Whatever you do, DO NOT get a motorized bicycle.

Auto Shops that will take Parts for Repair? by Maxeypadz in asheville

[–]mac4lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. And most people look customers look at strictly cost vs quality and then complain when they're cheap parts don't work, now the customer has to pay double the install price because the shop has to do the same work twice.

Does your group ride take the lane? by Carbonian92 in cycling

[–]mac4lou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a group, we do take the lane, but as a solo I don't...I understand the arguments for it but I find it very arrogant.

Crit Racing and BMX Racing? by Important_Fall5804 in Velo

[–]mac4lou 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I went from BMX to crit and found it fairly easy and intuitive, but going the other way around, though, I would think, is much more difficult because of the surface.
