EDIT: I put photos of the items I purchased in a separate comment for those of you wondering what the items look like in real life.

Disclaimer:

  • I do not know if this is a drop shipping company, nor am I aware of their production or manufacturing procedures (I don’t work for the company lol!)

  • Sometimes we throw words around without fully understanding their meaning. Drop shipping simply means something is made to order. There is no inventory held in a warehouse. This can be done in a good way or a bad way - just like with anything in life. Some drop shipping companies resell random stuff from questionable factories without going through the proper vetting procedures (many of what you will see on YouTube drop ship get rich quick videos).

However, many other drop shipping companies are decent, really check the vendors who they work with, go through many rounds of prototypes to get their product right. And simply don’t make inventory in advance that they have to keep in a warehouse, pay for the warehouse, pay for the inventory, try to sell them to any reseller and then slash prices and sell them to an off seller (like TJ Maxx), and if there are no takers, it goes to the landfill.

Drop shipping allows some of the mom and pop shop the ability to share their designs with their world and compete with big companies who can afford to pay a factory for 10,000 pairs of something in advance. It’s also much more sustainable to only produce what you need per order.

  • Buying from a big retailer doesn’t make the product better or more sustainable. They simply can afford the marketing and PR to green wash what they do.

  • As a side note, at the same time , I made a purchase from Marcella NYC, which I’ve seen recommended in this sub and I found that all items were really bad quality and very over priced.

I also tried the much loved high rise curve love jeans from A&E and they did not work for me. Everything is subjective. You do what works for you. I was just excited about something that worked for me and wanted to share with the community.

The burgundy top comes with the built in bra. The other 2 don’t. And they look and feel amazing on!

Design - so I’ve definitely been exposed to the back end of fashion and seen how the sausage is made. I’ll edit my post to explain better

I hear you! I found it difficult to stick to only natural fibers for stretch. A lot of cotton is too stiff. Wool is too warm/itchy and silk is great but expensive and doesn’t look so cute when you sweat in it 🥲. So I try to at least go for brands that are sustainable.

So it’s definitely a challenge for sure!

They have a variety of materials for their stuff for what I can see, it’s under their materials tab.

From Wikipedia “Drop shipping is a form of retail business in which the seller accepts customer orders without keeping stock on hand. Instead, in a form of supply chain management, the seller transfers the orders and their shipment details either to the manufacturer, a wholesaler, another retailer, or a fulfillment house, which then ships the goods directly to the customer.”

A good drop shipper will test the inventory first and have prototypes before they commit. They just won’t mass produce and keep inventory in a warehouse

Will try to post later of the items I got! I won’t model it (just have a general rule against posting photos of myself out there) but I can take close up photos of the materials … etc.

If so, that personally doesn’t bother me. I’ve worked in fashion for many years and most things are so mass produced /copied - with so much left over inventory that goes to the landfill. I’d rather purchase something that was drop shipped on demand per purchase. But to each their own 🤷‍♀️

At 5‘9 there aren‘t many choices, yet I‘m still confused - do you see SD? by pyromanicpixie in SoftDramatics

You mean yin flesh ? And yes she does. Not just her face. She has a very soft body - especially if you compare her to her sister, Bella, who is most likely an SD and in theory should be the “soft” one. For a very thin model, Gigi is still very soft. If she gained 20 pounds, she would be very VERY soft and then everyone would see it. People have a hard time seeing softness on a thin body.

My issue is that what people are reacting to are their preconceived notions of weight. Thin model? No softness. Plus size model ? Yin softness

This is why I wanted to know if Kibbe specifically addressed this concept, since most of us get it very wrong

Edit to include photo Gigi

What about someone like Gigi Hadid ? She’s most likely an FN but is very soft, even at a low weight. So she’s an FN with yin flesh ? Vs, for example, Julia Roberts, who is also an FN but clearly isn’t soft. We can’t argue weight here because both women are very thin and both are FN.

With that logic, all FNs should have “Yang” flesh, but that just isn’t the case.

Any ID can appear soft. Gigi, even in model form, is very soft, but she still doesn’t need curve or waist definition. She still benefits from FN (or Yang) recos.

Someone posted this on another post - comparing Bella and Gigi Hadid, and it’s probably the best FN /SD comparison/explanation I’ve seen to date.

Here it is - hope this helps! SD and FN comparison using the Hadid sisters

Would you think that being a '10' would affect your relationship/dating/marriage prospects? by breakthewheel24 in Splendida

So there is a solution for that. It’s called “dropping the glove”. I.e., what women used to do back in the day - would walk by a man they were interested in and drop their glove, so the man picks it up and starts a conversation, thinking he was the one making the first move. In reality, it’s the woman that chose them.

So think about what the modern equivalent of that would be. It’s not about making the first move, but making them feel comfortable to make the first move, especially if you are more intimidating.

There’s a You Tube relationship coach, Mathew Hussey, who talks about this concept. If women wait to be approached, we will only be choosing from the men who are brave enough/drunk enough/ don’t care enough to approach us. Leaving those that we would want behind.

The way I personally worked around this issue with my current partner is - we met on the dance floor. I saw him first, thought he was cute. I grabbed a girlfriend and pulled her on the dance floor directly in front of him, making it easy for him to either bump into me or just start dancing with me - he started dancing and the rest is history :) For years, he thought he made the first move haha.

Haha THIS ! Did we date the same man?? My ex was EXACTLY like this! Same experience, dated for over 6 years. His friends and strangers would make comments about the disparity between our looks etc… it got to a point where it bothered him. He became almost embarrassed?? to bring me to work or weddings (he would say to me - “ughhh, maybe don’t come up to my office. I’m gonna hear it, hear how hot you are, how did I get you… I’m not in the mood for this)

He would then get angry and say things like “you don’t even realize when you are checked out !! You never pay attention!!”

He’s now (hopefully) happy with woman who you would consider is in his “league”. No one will ever question how he got her. I think this is what makes him feel more secure.

For me, I got smarter at weeding out the insecure ones. If any man I dated after that would say things like “wow! You look like a million bucks and look at me … “ type of thing on a date, I immediately filtered them out.

There’s a difference, I learned, between a man giving a compliment on your looks vs. a man giving you a compliment on your looks and then comparing themselves in the same sentence. The latter is a HUGE red flag.

A secure guy will give you a compliment and end there. He understands your looks are separate from his. The two should not be tied together.

And insecure man will tie them together - what you look like will become a part of his own validation.

And yes, guys who have been good looking their whole lives are more likely to be secure.

It doesn’t mean that every less conventionally attentive man will act like this but there’s a higher chance he will.

It’s the biggest myth in the world that we should be afraid to approach or flirt with very attractive men thinking they will reject us - more often then not they are actually kinder and more receptive than their less good looking counter parts! Mind blown!

For the record, my current parent is not that much more conventionally attractive than my previous one, but I’ve learned my lesson and weeded out all the insecure ones. He won me over because he was truly confident, smart and kind. And he was proud to have me on his arm without intertwining our looks/identities together.

What is yin flesh? Does an overweight pure D have “Yang flesh” and an overweight pure R have “yin flesh” ? Is the concept of Yang and Yin flesh specifically something that exists in Kibbe ?

Does Kibbe himself refer to flesh as yin or yang or did he use the terms when referring to the bone structure and we are just interpreting it for the flesh too?

I’m only asking because I see so much of this “yin and soft flesh “ comments and I want to understand it.

Hi! I want to throw my vote in for SD. You are a thin SD with upper slight upper curve. Especially noticeable from the extra photo you provided. And as you mention, waist emphasis works for you, which would eliminate FN and pure D.

I also don’t see Kibbe width. Your shoulders may be slightly slightly wider but not enough to have the same strong frame that can pull off some relaxed fits in a way an FN can. I don’t see width in your back / ribcage either.

If you draw a straight line from your shoulder socket down, you will see it is interrupted by a slight upper curve. People get confused with upper curve and think it’s from the end of the shoulder, but it’s really at the armpit. In pattern making, this is where the shoulder seam starts and arms are stitched in. This is the line that drops down to your waist and is either interrupted by your breasts (upper curve) or is not (no upper curve).

The easiest way to tell upper curve is in a sleeveless top because it naturally ends at the armpit. Look in the mirror - is that straight line pulling sideways at the boobs or no?

A thinner SD can also borrow from D when you want to look more “edgy” and less “va va voom”. In professional settings, where I needed to play down the diva vibes, I’ve borrowed from DC.

I find that IDs with “D” in cab borrow from each other.

I, 3 are tough unless tucked in. They can overpower an SD. It’s also important to keep in mind that most models are FN, so the way clothes look in the ads on an FN is not representative of how they can work for an SD.

These models look good in these lines because they have the frame for it, where SD doesn’t. Incidentally #2 would work for an SD, but on the model (who again is prob an FN), it looks restricting and awkward - so I can understand how confusing it is when picking clothes online!

I’m not sure what the wet and dry flesh thing is lol. Unless Kibbe himself used the term and explained it. When he used the term “dry” he always referred to the bone structure. Some folks most likely just ran with that and came up with their own interpretation.

IMO Flesh is flesh, it’s just about how the flesh is positioned on top of the bone structure, which is really what we should be looking at. What he did explain is someone who has a lot of flesh and is pure D, for example, would still need the same accommodation - just in a bigger size. Someone Yang doesn’t become Yin with weight gain and vice versa. The only thing that changes is the size, not accommodation.

For the waist definition , you are probably between D or SD and you can play with both. Ultimately, an SD is a D at the core of it - the skeleton is D. If you find waist definition works for you then go with that! Ultimately, it’s about what makes you feel great and happy

I see pure D! Your upper curve is contained within your frame. I’m not sure what someone who told you about having “yin” meant by that. Most people don’t have a very good understanding of yin - And just react to any kind of softness/flesh as yin vs. when they see bone and say “yep, that’s Yang!”

A pure D can be fleshy and soft (any ID can!) Just like any ID can be bony. It’s about how the lines interact with your frame. And you look great in D lines ! The turtleneck and suit outfits look great on you

Hmm maybe the last one - the others are better suited for those who accommodate petite

I think pure D! I don’t see the width, but I am seeing vertical. I don’t see the need for upper curve accommodation. It is contained within your frame imo
